old mobo problems, please help!

I have an old compaq that’s been giving me problems, I recently decided to scrap it, and salvaged the monitor. I realized that I needed some files from the computer, so I decided to reattach the monitor and just put them on a disc. But what I found was that the pins on the mobo were badly damaged and didn’t work at all. So now I’m left with important files on my old computer that I need, and I’m forced to do so without a monitor. Any ideas? I was thinking of just removing the hard drive and reinstalling it in my mother computer, but if there’s something easier id like to hear it. Thanks.
 
I say just take out the HDD, that's a VERY simple process, dude.
5 minutes to do everything.
