I've been working on this old full tower for about 4 years now and it's finally nearing completion, when I got it it looked like this:

I worked on it once in a while but for a long time it just sat until somewhat recently I lost my temper at the crummy cheepo premodded case I had been using (pictured above for size comparison) and smashed up the front panel. With the premodded case smashed up I started scavanging parts from it, mainly the latch and window, and put them on the full tower.
(this is where there would be more pics but for some reason I neglected or can't find the pics while it was in this stage)

I waited on painting it for a while because I couldn't make up my mind on what color/s to paint it and because I wanted to do something with the front panel. In the end I never did anything to the front panel and decided to just paint it black for simplicities sake. The paint used for all the metal parts is Rust-Oleum professional gloss black enamel, I like the Rust-Oleum products because they allow you to work quickly with the pro enamel drying to the touch in 15min and handleable in a couple hours and with all our pets and no real clean place to paint the quicker it dries the less crap that gets stuck to it. The plastic parts are being painted using AmericanTraditions plastic enamel because thats the type of plastic paint there was.

here is the frame with the hard drive cage attached with hard drives installed

in the next two pics you can see that the hard drives in this old case are squeezed very close together

but there is room for a fan right in front of the hard drives so hopefully temps wont get to bad

the panels and mobo tray are still drying outside and I want to wetsand the panels then put another coat to make them look really nice but here are some pics anyway.

here is the top panel and you can see the whole cut for the latch

here you can see the design for the window which was created by cutting up the window from the premodded case

and here is the mobo tray which is a major reason I'm using this old case because a lot of the cases i've seen with "removable motherboard trays" (including my premodded case) it's more work to use the removable tray than to just stick the board in in the first place.

I'll post more pics in the next couple days as I finish.

well most of the 4 years it was just sitting with a bunch of stuff on it because i had a bunch of ideas for it like having the side panel automatically open with the top and other stuff of that sort that never really panned out. anyway here are some more pics, all thats left is the front panel thats drying right now.

back, you can see that I cut the mobo tray so that I only need to remove one panel to take it out

Well my comp is in my new case and here are the pics (I know the cable routing isn't that great but it's hard to hide cables that have so far to go)

I need to find something to fill that top drive bay

Looks good, Ive got a case that is nearly exact to that one which ive been wanting to do something similar.

ya well i've had a plethora of ideas for this case including but not limited to:
a custom ghettomodish watercooling setup
putting a shock on the side panel so when the top was opened the side would open automaticly
incorperating a remote control car to allow for easier and more fun movement

some were more foolish than others but i got tired of it just sitting around so i just did a simple paint and window job.
