Ok well for something to do I'm ripping apart my cousins semi old comp and putting it in a shiny new case of mine.

The thing is I was going to put my hard drive from my current PC into it but i'm thinking it wont run because of different drivers for the mobo, processor and video card and such.

Is that right?

Going to have to buy a new hard drive and operating system to make it work?

assuming you're using windows xp...

From my experience this sort of thing usually will give BSOD when you try to boot up unless the hardware is similar. However, I have successfully booted up to a P4 intel chipset board, from a hard drive that was taken from an old Athlon XP A7N8X (nforce2) board.
So you might get lucky...

There's also a microsoft kb article explaining how to switch motherboards without BSOD... I think you have to uninstall the chipset drivers first. I think I have the link at home... I'll post back if I find it.
