Old Drives

I got some WD RE4 drives from a retailer.

They're shipped in anti-static, packed great.

However, the dates are really old.

I just got them this week.

WD Warranty -- From purchase date w/receipt or from MANUF. date on drive? I always went by date on drive for my other WD...

The term of your limited warranty period shall commence on the purchase date appearing on your purchase receipt from an authorized distributor or authorized reseller and extends only for the period of time set forth in the Product documentation.

Proof of purchase shall be required to be eligible for this warranty and to establish the commencement date of this warranty. To verify the warranty of your Product and update your purchase date (if required), please use our online Warranty Status Check service. In the United States, some states do not allow limitations on how long implied warranties last, so the above limitation may not apply to you.

I've always just inputted my serial # and done warranty that way with WD, that's why I'm suspicious of the whole "receipt" warranty thing, unless things have changed recently in the last year ???

I've used it on two RE drives that were dated 2013.

GL! It has gotten much better in recent years from my experience alone.

just run the SN/Model through their warranty check to see where they stand!
