my friends got an old dell demension 4100.

is the case atx?

and are all pentium III's chipset 370?

-You mean 'socket 370'

No, the PIII originally came in 'slot 1' form, the cpu was mounted on a board that plugged into the slot... a random example is here.

-Many Dell systems, including the 4100 use a non-standard power supply and motherboard with different pinouts... so if you are planning on upgrading it via a new motherboard, you will need to replace both the motherboard and powersupply... or hack the hardware... I just googled on 'dell 4100 atx' and found links to discussions about just that.
