I have a old AMD 3200+ Venice on a DFI Lanparty. It can't playback HDDVD right now...not smooth anyway. It jumps around and the audio comes before the video. I was wonderin if I overclocked it, you think it would be able to play em back or should I just skip that and buy a new CPU?

I don't think that chip will overclock nearly enough for you to see any difference. Invest in a new CPU, a low end Conroe maybe?

you didn't mention what video or sound card you have, maybe upgrading that could help, but with the lower end core2duos being just about cheaper then dirt you would probably be much better off just spending a few hundred bucks and upgrading to something a little less outdated. rather then updating an old system

It cost nothing to try. Overclock it and see what happen. If it does not work then buy a new cpu.

When I had a 3200+, I was able to get it to 2.6Ghz pretty easily... just had to have a good cooler... I had (still have - I saved it) the Thermaltake Silent Tower.

If you can get the memory speed up a bit also that will help.

Well, newegg had an awesome combo deal, but it's over now. You could get a Toledo 4200+ for 50$. I think that's the fastest that'll fit the 939. I don't want to upgrade the whole board and everything...it's just a server pc. I actually just got a new vid card for it...the MSI 8600GTS.
