This is just a thx out to the forum for helping solve a old problem.
I bought a e6300 and Asus P5B (Vanilla) a few years back being excited about the OC'ng reviews and well... being cheap.
I heard of 3.8Ghz OC's but never was able to really reach above 2600 stable. (Boy did I feel inadequate!) Worse thing was I was running WATER with 2X120 RADS, NB block, GPU black and CPU block. Needless to say I was embaressed and actually ran at default most of the time.
After reading almost every forum item on the P5B I realized my memory was rated at 2.2V and the P5B topped out at 2.1V! I'm not even sure it was getting 2.1...
Anyways, tried the vdimm mod and just finished an hour of Borderlands at 3.1Ghz on the first attempt of adjusting the FSB. Its on the standard AIR cooler right so I might clean up the Water equipment to shoot for the moon. I may need the vdroop mod also but I'm just happy right now as things stand.
I know, I know, it's not I7 920 but its a personal victory after a few years.
If anyone can remember back to the e6300, should I bother getting the water setup going again? If so maybe dump the GFX and NB block and just worry about the cpu?
Thx again guys!
PS. Its not like I'm asking about help for the celeron 300Mhz to 450 OC...
