not sure if this is the right forum.. just move it to the right place if needed..

Hey everyone.. i'm in need of some help.. we have an old Compaq Proliant 6000 server quad pentium pro 200's 1GB ram and some scsi drives.. running windows 2000 server and is our DC..

we had done a firmware update and it went fine.. now the issue is whenever we start the beast up it gives a couple errors..

we're not trying to do a fresh install or anything just want the system back online..

162 - system options not set

then continues on to give

Error loading Operating system

we're running out of ideas and any fresh input would help ...

tried ....
taking it apart and reseating all components
booting to winternals but when trying to put in the scsi drivers the floppy drive isnt detected
rewrote the compaq system partition
reloaded the firmware old and new (still nothing)
every time we change a setting it wont save it (thus making me think its a cmos battery issue, but volt tested the battery and it tests at 3.08v)

System options not set means just that...you haven't gone into the System Options and configured them correctly. The "BIOS" of those is stored on the hard disks, and needs to be configured. It may be something as simple as telling the "BIOS" what SCSI resources to boot from.

we've tried doing that but the settings wont stay saved.. so when we restart to change some of the other settings it says we have to save these settings again.. and its just an endless loop..

the controller has the latest firmware.. it's running raid 5 right now.. while in the system config it can see all the drives but it just cant boot to the os

we think when we loaded the new bios it lost some of the settings for where the os is because the previous settings didnt call for dhcp lookup from the PXE NIC (the comp is the dhcp server as well)..
