Hey Guys im thinking about using my old hp 933 mhz computer and turning it into a teamspeak server. I have some questions however, 1. Will my computer im using now slow down from the server running teamspeak and by how much? 2. Will the server run teamspeak well and how many people do you think I could fit on the server? I also need overall tips and tricks and any advice you can give me on setting this thing up. Thanks

1. No, except for your pings online.
2. We need to know your internet connection speeds.

yes that computer (depending on the RAM) will handle a TS server just fine. The only effect it may have on your main computer would be related to your bandwidth. If you have a lot of TS clients it may hammer your bandwidth and increase your ping.

I run a dedicated game server at Server Matrix in Dallas and it runs 4 instances of Call of Duty, 1 MoH Spearhead and one TS server with 50+ clients with no problems at all. Of course it is a dual 2.4 xeon with 1GB ram. But - we once had issues with another dedicated TS server and someone hosted it on his home network as a backup. It was pretty choppy with more than 10 or so clients on it.

If you don't plan on a lot of clients you should be fine.

On a Athlon 1.4 w/ 320mb PC133 on my Cable (2mb Down, 256k Up) I ran a Ventrilo Server. It had 8 People and my ping wasnt to high. On nights where The Server, My Comp, and My Familys Computer were all sharing the internet at the sametime, I had some LAG spike.

Ok thats cool from what ive heard teamspeak takes less bandwith than vent anyway. Its probably not going to hold more than 15 people on it anyway. Thanks for the info guys
