Hi all,
Can someone shed some light on this?
I want to keep my old case(s) but when I get a new motherboard I want the front USB to be USB3.0 instead of 2.0.
Is there an internal kit available somewhere to get the USB3.0 Connector/receptacles?
The old USB Front connectors seem easy enough pop off the case.

Thanks

I might be mistaking but as long as you connect it to the USB 3.0 hub on the mobo, you should be fine. I dont think you need anything extra.

The USB 2.0 and 3.0 hubs looked identical.

No, you need a new cable for USB3, not just the same sized connector. The pinouts might be compatible, but I guarantee they won't run at USB3 speeds.

USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with 2.0 (you can run 3.0 on 2.0 at 2.0 speeds and voltages) but 2.0 is not forward compatible with 3.0 as 3.0 as additional pins over 2.0 which allows it to run at 3.0 speeds and voltages. USB 2.0 adapters cannot be modded to run 3.0, period. Some manufactures sell USB 3.0 upgrade kits for the front panel but they are few and far between and only work for specific case models. Likely if you want front panel USB 3.0 you will need to buy a generic adapter that would go on the 3.5 or 5.25 slot.
