Lets just skip to the point..., I won a Intel P4 3.2 EE and Intel D875PBZ motherboard last weekend, and though I may be an AMD-fan, I also know that chip kills my current system. I'm hoping to find a way to somehow integrate my new parts into my current gaming rig, but I need some advice and some pointers on what to do with this, and what I can expect to get out of it. I suppose I should start with the parts I'm currently running, most of which will remain in the system...
AMD Athlon 2500+ @ 2300Mhz/400MhzFSB
Asus A7N8X Deluxe V2
Corsair TwinX PC3200 1GB kit (2x 512MB)
2x Seagate 7200RPM SATA drives in RAID-0
ATI AllInWonder 9700Pro
Various optical drives etc. that don't really effect anything else.
Cooling is provided by a water-cooling system built mostly from DangerDen blocks and assembled myself, the CPU, GPU, and northbridge are all water-cooled.
From researching today I've already decided the MB I won sucks, and I'm looking at an Abit IC7-MAX3 to replace that. (anyone interested in buying the Intel board?) But any other suggestions (along with the reasoning) are welcome.
Cooling and OC'ing the new chip are where I'm really in the dark. Is it worth water-cooling a 3.2EE (if I do, I'm considering a DangerDen TDX block)? What kind of speeds can I expect out of this thing? What is the best way to go about getting there - I don't know what types of clock-locks and stuff Intel is using nowadays. How important is a 1:1 memory bus for Intel chips? Should I be worried about WCing the 875 chipset? (DangerDen sells an adapter to make my current Z-chip block fit an 875.)
Sorry for the n00bishness-sounding, but I know very little about Intel OC'ing to start with, and there's not much info available on the EE chips to work with either. Thanks in advance for whatever info you can give me.
