im gave my friend an old 128mb 9800 pro cuz his graphics arent cuttin it, but i had nothing but problems with it problems with cuz i also got it from a friend like 2 years ago, and it artifacts like crazy. so im gonna help him fix it if its even fixable and he doesnt feel like spending alot so thats why im giving him this. theres no existing warranting on this thing so its pretty much do or die with it. i was gonna add some AS5 to it and bump up the fan rpms on it to see if that reduces the artifacting. keep in mind though that its pretty much unplayable on any new games. just to give you an example, i cant see the main menu of WoW becuz the screen basically exploded with random pixels and colors everywhere with massive distortion. so this thing might already be dead, but is there any cheap ways of making this fullproof?
 
In English? It's not that much harder to type out because and foolproof...

If it artifacts at stock speeds and the fan is spinning, the card is probably shot. Try underclocking, but I've owned 2 dead 9800 pros and I doubt that it would help...
 
Can anyone that know how to fix video cards help me???? ok i have an ATI Radeon 128MB 9800 Pro card... the fan was bad so one day i just left my PC on and the card over heated and screen went blank,so i turened my PC off then after a few minutes re-started my PC then i saw the card had artifacts on screen so i turned it off...till the next day when i turned my PC on..the card was DEAD...didn't wanna boot at all on any of my agp computers...so question, can anyone help me fix this card if its possible to do so,if anyone know how to bring a dead card back to life....thanks a bundle...

sorry, i talk on aim alot and my halfass typing follows me around, and i guess i misspelled foolproof which i didnt know so.
 
From my experience if it artifacts it is usually the memory not the core.
