While I was at my friends house, I was cleaning up his garage and found the old PC he had frok 1995. He reluctantly let me open it up and take whatever I wanted out of it. This is what I got:

Intel Pentium Processor @ 166Mhz
S3 Virge PCI Video Card
48MB RAM (It's older than SDRAM)
Sound Blaster Sound Card
Generic 3D Sound Card
NIC Card
14.4K Modem (Not Included in this topic)
Parallel Port Add-on card

All of the cards except for the Video card were using a port type that came before PCI, I can not remember what it is called but I think it's AVIA but for the sake of being correct I'm safely going to say that I honest do not know. I decided to get some pictures of all these terrific artifacts, so let's get to the point shall we?

RAM: (Not all the RAM that was in the system is in the picture, there were 2X8MB and 2X16MB) And yes I took it out of the PC w/the price stickers on them!

So there you go, post all your pictures of your old-school Hardware Pre-2000!

Thats not that old. Ive got a legacy 16-bit sound card and network card both of which are as long as a 6800 sitting in a linux box next to my desk lol. That network card doesnt even have a coax connector.

The network card and the sound card are newer than 1995 i think. Any reason for takin pictures of it all? should do that cool key-chain mod heh.

Hah, old? That's just old enough to be mostly useless. Why didn't you just take the whole comp and see if it booted up? It would make a fine linux box for somethingorother!

bah I've got older ones that wish they were as fast as your hardware

As said, that's not even old. I have hardware like that in use. My basement looks like a computer graveyard with even older stuff. Disks from the generation before IDE, that kind of thing. My server is still a 450 mHz p3.

Oh, and before upgrading last year, my computer was a 166 mHz cyrix with 512 mb of edo. It was actually pretty fast for desktop stuff, but it sucked at games. I beat all of half-life at 12 fps. Those were the days.

Sounds like my garage. I have a working 386 and 486 DX2/66 in there somewhere. The 386 has Win98 installed on a 120mb hard drive compressed to 260 using stacker :D
lol ahh memories.

And the "previous slot" you're talking about is likely ISA :)

IT'S NOT MOST LIKELY!!!! IT IS ISA MYSTERY SOLVED!!!! lol...As far as old goes I used to work on a navy base and that's what we would ship out to DRMO to sell on lots to the general public....

I'm selling on ebay a bunch of ISA cards and shit that I found on the side of the road. Somebody is actually bidding $5 on it right now. That shit's old, but it's not all that spectacular. We've all seen ISA cards, and I'm sure most of us still have plenty of them around.

EDO Simms ram keychains are l337! :D

Already has a hole on the upper corners of it to run a keyring through. Just slap the ring on and throw your keys on it.

I've had an EDO Simms module on my keychain for about 4 years now... the only thing is.. the chips fell off through years of riding in my pockets.. So now I have some green, chipless simms PCB on the keychain...

The Coyote Linux router I'm currently using takes offence to being called 'old':

P166 MMX (well, yours doesn't even have MMX, so :p )
32 MB EDO RAM

It's definitely even more overkill than the 486DX2-66 (w/ 16 MB RAM) I was using previously.

Yeah, they're just grand when the dumb thing starts digging a hole in your leg through the pocket. :p

Haven't had that problem yet. :D

I spose sooner or later it will though...

166 MHz CPU did not exist before 95. I think its one of the first batch of 166 Mhz Pentiums from 1995.

I dont consider that old really. And yeah, its called 72 pin ram.

i recently raided my old parts closet and managed to find my old 40 MB hard drive which is abotu the height of two HD bays and the same width as one. needless to say i was extatic when i plugged it in and found all my commander Keen saves intact... GLORY!

Nat

The ISA bus is still in computers today, there just aren't any physical slots for it. I think the mouse/kb ps/2 ports are on it, and maybe the cmos chip.
