I just installed an Arctic Cooling NV Silencer 5 onto my BFG 6800GT OC. Used AS5 on the gpu and ceramique on the ram. i'm just letting you know what I've done before problems occured. So I put the video card in and then all of a sudden windows doesn't boot up. it just stays at the windows xp loading screen forever. so i reset and chose the "last known configuration that worked" setting from the boot menu. then windows boots up but my video card isn't noticed. so i uninstall the 67.02 drivers i had installed and reinstall the 66.93 drivers. reboot, and still no luck. when i go to the device manager, it notices the card indicates that there is a problem. what did i do wrong? how do i fix this?
 
First, I would uninstall all video drivers with Driver Cleaner (following the instructions of that program). Then reinstall.

If that didn't work, I would check the NV5 to make sure the GPU and RAM have good contact with the heatsink. Oh and I would ensure that there isn't excess AS5 on the GPU or RAM (i.e. on resistors!) that could potentially be shorting out the card.

If that didn't work, then I would install the card into another machine to see if that computer recognizes the card, and to see if it works in that machine.

If it doesn't work in the other computer, again check all connections with the NV5, and maybe try installing the stock cooler again to see if you can recover functionality.
 
I'd check to see if a) its really seated properly... ie the card in mobo...

b)check to see that the heatsink is really contacting the gpu...
