Okay, I've had my new case for a while, and I think my wiring skills are ok at best. Here is how my case looks currently.

There we go, now I have a few questions.

1. Is there anything simple and easy I can do to make my case look better? Just simple things that would make a difference. I would really like to do a few things, but I don't know what.

2. Every year I hook up a duct from the outside, so I can duct in cold air for extreme overclocking and really low temps (I plan to break my old record this year). Here is what it looks like

Now, if I do this with my new case. Will my plexiglass window have tape residue on it if I use blue painters tape or duct tape? I want to take the air in from the side, but my window is there. If I use duct tape to affix the duct to my case, will the duct tape leave a permanent residue on my window? I certanly, wouldn't want this, is there another way I could attach the duct to my case? Any ideas would certainly be appreciated.

Sleeving your PSU cables and all your fan cables would certainly neaten appearance. It's tedious (Sleeving my Enermax PSU and the four fans for my case was a couple-hour job) but when you're done, it looks doggone cool. I bought Vantec sleeving kits which have multiple sizes and lengths of sleeving and heatshrink all in one kit from http://www.plycon.com , but you can also get them from FrozenCPU. My case is an Antec with similar internal wiring to yours, I'm also sleeving some of that.

If you decide to sleeve, you may decide to replace all your Molex connectors with ones of another color, or with Vantec EZ-grip connectors for your 5.25"'s to make it easier to plug and unplug them. I went with all black Molex connectors, and ordered a few extra, which has turned out good seeing as I've replaced the Molex connectors on most of the fans too for a matching look. By the way, I think those funky round blue cables (it looks like a blue/white swirl on them?) for your drives clash with the rest of your setup. I'd get just plain silver braided ones, but that's just me.

Do you think you have enough room under your video card to fit the duct there?
Are you planning to overclock everything in your system?
I assume you have filter for the intake. :)
 
Yes I have filters for all 3 of my intakes. They catch so much dust, and now I don't have to clean out my whole case, just the filters. I may do the PSU sleaving a molex connectors maybe if I have the time. Just gotta wait till get it gets really cold.
 
sleeve the PSU, it does wonders for appearance. it also is a cheap way to keep yourself busy.
 
Ok.. About the airduct.. Dont you wonder about mosture? I was thinking about doing that until I remembered that I live like 2,000 feet up on a mountain where clouds are an everyday occurance. So im wondering, could the mosture from the outside affect your computer equipment?
 
Im sure it could. I do hope there's a filter on there....dust from the outside goes all over my room just leaving my window open. Here it gets cold in the winter so that is something for me to try. Never thought I could use the cold to my advantage!
 
With the tape on the window, the tape will leave residue. You can get chemicals that get ri of the residue. I can't think of the name right now, but I can post that tommorrow at work. I think a UV light would also do you wonders in there. All those fans would glow up so nicely. I think your cabling looks good for not having any sleaving done on it. If you want to clean the cabling up more though, these guys are right on the sleaving.

That is what I am going to do with this setup. I have worried about condensation a little bit when it got really cold, or it was raining/snowing out. But everything seemed to be ok. I did put a papter towel or two inside the duct to catch any moisture that might have seeped in. But from the angle of the window, the rain usually never hits that window at all. So it all works out ok.

My main concern is my window, I don't want to ruin it at all.

And oh yeah, I do have one Red CC in my case, and it was ok looking, but my bro kept on saying that its a "Christmas Computer". I didn't like it and remove it. Maybe UV CC's will look better.

Blue painter's tape does not leave any residue, but I'm not sure if its strong enough to hold the duct into place. I will most likely have to experiment a bit.
 
you should raise the case to a table and make your tube smaller then youll get alittle better air flow to your case.
 
i think thats an awesome idea what u have there. My pc is liek 2 feet form a window and i allready have a hoel in my window since i have the x-dreamer 2. im going to try it maybe in a few days its damn cold in octtober....cept i want to run oen form outside to the bottom of my rad and see what that does for me....woo hoo low temps here i come.

Very little works better than Goo Gone for removing residue, and Goo Gone is unlikely to damage plastic. Rubbing alcohol won't work as well.

I had to use Goo Gone to get the adhesive off my Antec P160 case window that was left by the clear plastic protective film that came on it. It did an excellent job without fogging or marring.
 
looks like you've got bolt/screw holes already in the plexi for the fan. Why not get a large rubber oring & clamp it between the duct & plexi instead of the tape. It would make for a much neater looking connection. less ghetto as it were.

or you could get another fan guard, cut out the guard, & hot melt glue the flexi duct to the inside of the new guard. If you make a neat bead of glue it would probably act like an O-ring & seal when you screw it down to the plexi.

Yeah I see what you mean, but this setup is only going to last for about a week or so, so I think the blue's painter's tape will work. I will figure something out good. Thanks for the suggestions guys.
 
i agree with the rounded cable thoughts. the baby blue does not do the computer justice. the best ideal would be to get some EL rounded cables or at least some copper ones. i think that you can get all that stuff at compusa thought you would pay more there than online.
 
i would also vote for a new hsf on that cpu and a 24/7 overclock rather than a once-a-year overclock. getting performance gains year-round has to be better than having it only once per year...
 
One final reply: Every time I look at your case, I think that the green glowing fan atop your video card is a bad thing. It adds clutter both due to placement and cable wiring and just looks out of place. I would either remove it, or replace it and the Zalman setup with an Arctic Cooling ATI Silencer (I'm assuming that that graphics card is ATI, but AC makes NV Silencers too) which will exhaust air from its heatsink out the back of the case, and weigh far less, making it less likely you'll warp your video card in the long run. Getting rid of one or both of those fans will also reduce noise.
 
Hmmm I suppose you are correct. I do not mind about noise at all. I have the SmartFan2 running at max all the time(which is like 40dB's :eek: ). I may remove it, but the thing about doing the year-round thing is that it gets hot here on Long Island during the summer, I wouldn't want warm air going into my case. And I can't have it running throughout the winter becuase the cold air coming out of the case circulates in my room, making my room almost the same temp as the outside. lol, and then my parents get mad becuase I'm wasting the heat in the house. I am only doing this temporary becuase of the fact that the cold air gets into my room. When I am going to do the duct, I am going to oc as much as I can and benchmark and crap like that. And I am going to try to get my CPU temp below 10c under load.

I have placed the green fan there because: a) its quiet and pushes a fair amount of air and b)I thought it would help cool my video card and and NB.

On the thought of replacing the Zalman, I just got the Zalman (like back in may), and I really don't care that much about my video card, I got it from a deal on these forums back in January, and it really isn't that much of a performer. My stock speeds are 324core and 310mem and my max oc for the card where I can overclock is 365core and 330mem. Not that great for a 9700pro with this type of cooling, and I have shotty-homemade rem-sinks but they work. So I really don't car about my video card too much, as I want a new one soon now that I have money, but I want to wait as long as I can before getting a new one.

EDIT: Oh yeah, the IDE cables are not baby-blue, its just bad lighting on me, they are acually a bit darker then baby blue, and they don't have white swirls. They are the ones that came with my Epox mobo, they work fine and I hardly see them when my comp is on. I feel no reason to replace them right now, sorry I didn't clear that up before. Thanks again for the suggestions. Anything else is welcome.
