Ok. I've been scouring the internet for days now trying to find the best bang for the buck when it comes to PSUs. I have decided that I want an Enermax EG495AX-VE. It has good rails, has a lot of features, and isn't the worst PS out there nor is it the best. So its priced reasonably. I have found a few merchants who have the power supply but I want to make sure that it is version 2.0 of the PS. What is the difference, anyway? Here are the links:

Mwave:

Newegg (says it is v 2.0):

Monarch:

Anyways, it looks to be the best bang for the buck. I want very powerful rails, as I will be OCing a little bit and I do have a above average system. I was looking at the Powerstream 520, but its just too expensive at 140. Only if, and only if, it is as good as everyone says and will absolutely blow away the Enermax, would I be inclined to buy it. If it is good, but not so great that it warrants 40 extra $, then I don't need it.

I have looked at the Fortron Blue Storm, but it lacks the 24pins I have. Plus it only has 15 on the rails - though I hear BStorms are underrated. So I was debating heavily about these drives. I have also looked at SPI and Zippy units but I can't find anything that has the features that I like, etc.

Mainly I'm looking for:
24pin
Strong rail(s)
Good airflow
Good regulation

Anyways, unless anyone has any reason why I shouldn't go with the Noisetaker that I linked to, I plan on getting it. I would appreciate your experience and knowledge, though. Otherwise, I'd like to know which of those is the v 2.0 and which is not. And whats the difference.

Anyways, thanks for any replies. You guys are the best source of information on the internet. And Ice Czar is stellar. I love his post. You rock.

Setup follows:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
DFI Lanparty Neo4 Ultra-D
MSI Geforce 6600GT 128MB
1GB MUSHKIN RAM PC3200 DDR400
200GB WD HD 8MB Cache 7200 IDE
74GB WD HD 8MB Raptor 10000
1 CD burner
1 Dvd player
7 Sunon Fans
Zalman 7000
Thermaltake Purepower 420Watt (see what I mean...anything is an improvement over this.)

Thanks again, guys/gals.

An educated guess would be the unit at Monarch. Not sure why they only offer 90 day warr without charging you more. That point alone might make me shop elsewhere.

I assume the PSU you show is working so my next question would be “What do you hope to gain?”

well, better reliability, for one. Plus, this is very weak on the rails. 18amps. Besides, I have a computer that needs a PSU. A second computer that cameabout from leftover parts. So the TT will go there. I need a good solid PS for my main. Something I can rely and use for future upgrades.
