So I have $170 from my recent sale and I want to get some water cooling. I need some people to give me a setup that is not too hard to maintain. I have about $170 so if maybe some of you water cooling gurus can help me, I would appreicate it. I just want low temps. I want to OC my FX-55 a lot and even with a little voltage increase, the temps fly up. About 55C at Load with 1.55 volts which is .05 more then stock. So I would like temps in the 30s at load. Please put together some parts for me. I dont care of the brand.

Just for some background. My house stays at around 68-70 Farenheit.
 
What will I need for loads in the 30's? Swiftech Apex kit? Will that do it?

Thats close, you could probably save a few dollars here or there. You could downgrade the pump, or even the waterblock if you want to. A bit more budget system could look like this...

BIP2 : 35$
AquaXtreme MP-05 PRO : 55$
T-Line + Clamps + Distilled Water + Tubing : 10$
Aquarium Pump : 50$ or less

Total : 150$


The place where you really dont want to change is the radiator. If you are looking for low temps under high load I would stick to at least a dual 120mm radiator like the BIP2, or a heatercore, in fact one of the modded heatercores that 2Fresh or Weapon sell would out perform the BIP2 (the heatercore is slightly larger).

Yeah, I was about to say, I really wanted a Dual 120mm rad because I hear that the BIP2 is used in the Apex kit and has a cooling power of .125 Watt/Celcius or something like that at full blast which theoretically would get my temps in the 30's and low 40s which is what I idealy want. Is it possible to maybe post links? And will this fit into my PC-60B Plus? I can take out a fan or two.
 
To fit it in the PC60 you are going to have to mod the case. The only place to really fit a dual 120mm radiator is in the top. This uses up the top two drive bays though, so hopefully you dont have a full rack of optical drives. You might still have room for a fan controller in the second drive bay from the top.

I have 2 optical drives. Man, hopefully someone good at this stuff might live near me of I might be starting a diary or my WC venture. I can move the two drives to the bottom. Anyone live in NJ or NYC?
 
Don't foget to add $20-30 shipping if you're going to buy from so many different retailers. Also for a complete kit, you'll need to add coolant, thermal Compound (AS5) and fans.

So add about $40-50 to the prices Erasmus has configed if you don't have those supplies already...
 
Bah, keep a sharp eye on the For Sale forums and you'll have no problem putting together a high-performance mongrel.
 
I have plenty of AS5. Does the BIP2 come with fans? If not I might just save up and get the Apex as I know it comes with everything. I am still a little concerned about modding my PC-60, I don't even know where the BIP2 will fit in my case, I am a little confused, drive bays, where?
 
Well if I can get some professional to cut out 2 120mm hole on my top part of my case I will do that. I know some car people who might be able to do that.
 
it really isn't that hard to cut the case since it is aluminum, basically just measure, mask, and cut.

In fact if you know someone with a holesaw you could do it yourself. DangerDen even has some videos on their site that shows you how to do it.
 
I do have a hole saw, not 12cm though. Mine is for wood though, I am not sure if it will work on metal. Erasmus, you dont happen to live in NY or NJ, do you?
 
Just out of curiosity do you have some pictures of your case? Maybe we could think of some creative way to mount the radiator on your case with minimal modding effort. I'm sure some of us here are engineers :D

er... yeah, anyways.

If you have a dremel or anything of the sort you can cut out sime nice square holes that would make the radiator fit in there nice and use the whole shebang as an intake. I personally had a machinist cut the holes on my pc-6077 (same as yours up on top), but thats cause there was a few precision measurements that I needed and he was my friend so he could do it for free. Just take things slowly with the dremel and you'll be fine... i'm in process of cutting out the side panel and have made some really nice cuts... just gotta go slow.
