I see so many people talking about getting ~3000 PPD on a C2D machine. I am running an E6700 OC'd to 3.33Ghz with 2GB's of ram, and I'm getting ~500PPD. I can get as high as 1200, but that's only when a boxen or two finishes a WU. Is there some trick? Do I need a pentagram and some chicken's blood to get this folding faster? Or are people bragging about something they know nothing about?

On the Internet, NO!!!!! Call the mod squad, we got us some net phonies!!!

:D

~ 3000 PPD off a C2D is a little out of line. Generally, under perfect alignment of Mooses nuts you could score closeish to that, would need a pair of 364 point 1497/1495/1499 Projects- the absolute highest possible scoring WU's out there.

Now, running the SMP client on that chip under native Linux (you install Linux on your box, YUK!!!) you gonna score pretty dang high. Reasons are all SMP WU's are bonus WU's so no matter what you get it's got a bonus and then some.

You could split the difference and try the VM nix stuff.

Config the clients for -big packets, drink 2x liters of chicken blood daily, place a picture of me in the center of your pentagram (along with paypal on 20 bucks Bollocks just cost me) and kill a moose your be good to go.

If someone is talking about getting 3000 PPD from a C2D, they are full of crap.
3000 PPD from 2 C2D systems would be fairly easy if they were running linux SMP folding. If you had 1 C2D system running windows and you got a steady diet of P1499 work units, you could get very close to 2000 PPD from that one machine. (for those that haven't noticed, when running two P1499 units at the same time, they frame times are slower by about a minute compared to running a P1499 alone or with somthing like a P1166 running on the second core)

He is refering to this thread http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1143467
Where I posted about getting 3000PPD from 2 machines (he misread the post) Youcan get 1500PPD from that awsome running 3.3ghzC2D machine by running Linux O/S and SMP folding for the Linux. You can also get close to that by running VMware (it will allow you to run Linux inside of your windows) and loading SMP on you system. You will tae a slight hit but you will prob get 1300-1400PPD that way. Read this thread http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1127391
