I know the lower the response time the better. But what about the contrast ratio is that the lower the better also. For ex. 700:1 or 800:1 which is better, and brightness 280cd/m or 300cd/m. Thanks

No, a higher contrast ratio is better....also a lower response time is kind of subjective. For example, I would much rather use my 2007FPW with an S-IPS panel and a specified 16ms for gaming than a TN panel rated for 5ms. Of course I am not sensitive to any ghosting and would much rather have good viewing angles and color accuracy.

the higher the contrast ratio the better, it shows the difference between the darkest black and the brightest white. Check out the details on what specs mean here too :)

response time will be insignificant in the hopefully near future as the screen HZ rate will be the importaint factor, so if you want to buy now then go for a quality screen

when debating on which 30" i should get awhile back... i got the apple cinema 30" ... since it was S-IPS... 14ms... but all of the reviews said the backlighting was perfect.. color is calibrated at the factor for perfect reproduction... and since the cinema has been around for almost 3 years the monitor would of been built right and all the bug it had before been fixed....

i used to have a viewsonic vx924.. a 3ms TN panel... and compared to this screen i was blown away... sure i noticed a bit of ghosting... but i would rather play a game with excellent color and very good vewiing angles any day... my TN panel if i just move my head just a little.. the color would shift! now that sucks... plus 14ms isnt that bad when playing games ... after playing awhile you wont notice any ghosting..
