heya guys, as i fix more computers it becomes another day another problem :p

alright here is my issue first. this one at least isn't on as big of a time constraint. i have a computer here with a 120gig maxtor drive, i need to clone that drive over to a 160 gig so the 120 can be wiped and moved to a different system. mind you last time i did this was both pre the 137gig barrier and pre windows xp. so i got a copy of norton systemworks and ran ghost to clone the drive to the new one, clones and reboots. i set the new drive to master and plug it in...boom "error loading os". Alright i've been here before, recovery fixboot is a no go, recovery fixmbr is a no go, so i start doing a bit more research, made sure i had sp2 so it could recognize the big drive, also made the starting drive ntfs to fix any fat probs. also i double check to make sure the new drive is being seen as lba, no probs there, and finally i write to zeroes on the drive. reinstall, now i get ntldr is missing press any key to restart. i try copying said files to the drive and still no good. so i'm at a bit of a loss. did i miss something? any help would be awesome
what i'm dealing with:
120 maxtor ata 133 8mb cache etc
160 western digital caviar se
windows xp sp 2
nf7 mobo latest revision

oh and my question, i recently got back into making anime music videos, as such i use alot of space between vob files and raw avi's i'm working with. i need another hard drive but am rather dirt poor at the moment, i was thinking of grabbing a big old cheap drive to store the stuff, maybe like a 40-80 gig drive would 5400 really hurt for that? or should i get a 7200 i figure the 8mb cache is negligible for this but i was wondering what would make a decent storage drive, it would really just be movie files, music and vobs

Have you tried setting the partition as active in fdisk and changing the jumper settings to cable select?

Also, 5400 for storage is fine, save some money.

hmm, cool about the drive

and i didn't think about that, i'll try that, i did the cable select after i posted, that didn't fix it, but i'll try setting the partition to active. i didn't think it would matter if it was being cloned, i'll update when i finish
