Ok... Mouse-PAD Question

I like the stability of a hard mousepad, but very few optical or laser mice seem to track well on hard pads...

I'm looking for a hardish mousepad (like one of those teflon pads) but with your standard fuzzy felt covering for max tracking

Does such a pad exist?
...and if so, is there a name for this type of mousepad?

I do a lot of stuff from my bed and my soft pad moves around on my blanket... I'd like something with some rigidity... but also something that'll allow my mouse to track

Few mice track well on them...?
Are you saying this from experience, because my experience is cloth pads having worse tracking with laser.

I agree with the OP on poor tracking with laser mice on hard surfaces. My Corsair M60 works much better on cloth than hard surfaces like my Icemat (glass) or the desk (wood).

It's not absolutely rigid, but they make a "hard" version. Best pad I have owned.

A hard surface can work fine, it just needs to be as matte as possible and have fine, non-uniform detail.
Very smooth wood with a matte finish works great for tracking. A shiny piece of metal does not.
Corsair makes a great hard surface mouse pad. The MM400. I would recommend it but I think OP is looking for something rigid that he can use without needing a desk to set it on.
I recommend you use any pad you want and just put it on a thin hard cover book. Where's Waldo books work great.

Its a teflon sheet with a silicone backing. Tracks better than any hard or soft pad i've had, and it has lower friction than any other pad that i have had, and i have had many many many.

Razer Vespula Dual sided hard mousing surface. One for control, one for speed. Optical/laser mice don't track better on a cloth surface, but a bad mouse pad is a bad mouse pad cloth or otherwise. I use a variety of mice on that surface at very high dpi and it is extremely accurate.
