I wonder if by turning off the UPS when I'm not at home (and it's 100% charged) I would decrease the battery (or the whole UPS as well) life.

Same question if it's not 100% charged. Nice if I can charge the thing only when I'm working on the PC. But would this interfere with the chargin cycle?

I just leave mine plugged in all of the time so its always fully charged in case the power goes out. I think that is best.

You will likely decrease the battery life by switching it on an off, especially for longer periods of time (ie. for a week or two). UPS's have circuitly to keep the battery in a "float" state (in other words fully charged) that helps maximize battery life. Allowing a battery to discharge and stay at that level can shorten its life. Power usage would be pretty minimal for the unit to be left plugged in anyway.

I leave my APC UPS's running all the time, even when the equipment is off. The batteries last about 5 years before needing replacement this way, so it seems the best to me.
