Ok i am really confused, ive read alot of reviews, some say that the 6800GT sux on HL2, some say its better then the ati x800pro, im confused,

How big is the performace gap, can you post URL for a good comparison.

Thank you !

Check any sites benchmarks. The 6800GT is a little faster than an X800Pro. It's about twice as fast as a 9800XT. Although since HL2 favors ATi technology the gap between the 9800XT and the 6800GT should be smaller, but even so the 6800GT should still dominate the 9800XT at everything there is.

I know it dominates the 9800XT on everything. I didn't know however if it was faster at HL2 or not. All I know is what I've read. Which just said that the ATi's are generally faster for HL2.

Doesn't matter to me. I've got both an X800Pro and a 6800GT. So I'm good either way.

Yes, the 6800GT destroys the 9800XT. Heck, even the 6600GT or X700 are better than the 9800XT.

The 9800XT still has some life in it.

But a 9800XT is going to have its ass handed to it by a 6800GT.

Gt beats the x800pro in HL2 everywhere I've seen even if by slim margins.... either way 9800XT gets bitch slapped. I'd imagine you'd have to look far and wide even for a game that favors ATi enough that a 9800XT will win. Although it can kind of keep up in 3dmark01 for whatever freakish reason.

It can keep up/win in 3dmark01 at 1024x768...hell, a 9700pro can too. Try at 1600x1200 tho...3dmark01 is almost entirely cpu bottlenecked from the r300 on at 1024x768.
