I'm an idiot. I just uninstalled all my VIA drivers (was planning on putting new drivers on after cleaning them and my nvidia drivers with driver cleaner) and I got my SATA driver, too. So now I can't boot into windows. Is there any way I can get the driver back on there?

Edit: It seems like it can still detect and see my drive, as it gets to the XP loading screen.. but after a second or two it flashes a blue screen and then reboots. The blue screen is only there for a really short time, so I can't read it. There any way I can make it stay on screen?

I recently discovered the joys of a XP repair install. Not the repair console but the repair install. It deletes everything windows and saves your programs and registry... not quite deletinga ll ofo windows but still. It worked for a motherboard swap. It should work for your drivers.

Only thing to warn you about is make sure you go to windows update... it reverts you back to whaterver your disk had.
 
How does one go about doing that? Just go through a regular installation, or what? Since repair takes you to the repair console and I have no idea what the hell I'm doing in there.. >.>
 
When booting from the XP disk, at the part when it gives you the choice of "Setting up XP"
or "go to Recovery Console", you skip the recovery console and head down the setup path. Then, after searching for previous installs, it'll ask if you want to repair previous install (reinstalls Windows files only, leaves data intact) or install a fresh copy(obliterates all data).

Alright, I did a repair install.. but my computer's only booting into safe mode (I assume because I had it set to boot into safe mode after I uninstalled the drivers) and setup can't run in safe mode. What now? :|

Edit: Actually, after thinking about that, it doesn't make sense.. since I basically just reinstalled windows, shouldn't that be gone? Why will it only boot into safe mode, then? I hit f8 to get into the boot up choices, told it to boot normally, and it went into safe mode..
 
No, don't think so. I'm considering just finding an ide drive, installing xp on there, installing the sata drivers, copying the data I want to keep off the SATA drive, then formatting it and reinstalling xp again.. or someone here at school suggested Knoppix, but I don't really know how I'd get the SATA drivers onto my drive so that windows would boot up, or how it would change the booting into safe mode/setup being unable to run problem.
