Are there any for the PS3?
I have 2 PCs and a PS3, so I could make a 3 way gaming session.
I'm interested in games with PC versions like:
Borderlands
Far Cry 2
Orange Box/TF2
Burnout Paradise
Dirt 1/2
Blur
Call of Duty Black Ops
Assassins Creed Brotherhood
Tony Hawk franchise
etc.. you get the drift.

Is such a thing possible at all?

I don't think so. I've heard murmurs that when Steam comes to PS3 that you'll be able to play against PC online but I've also read that you won't.

Only happened with:

X360 - Shadow Run
Dreamcast - Q3Arena

Actually, on 360/PC it is Shadowrun, Universe at War and Lost Planet : Colonies. Additionally MS has been developing cross platform integration between 360 and PC for years but recently pulled back because without added aim assists on the console, the PC players were downright slaughtering console gamers.

Steam coming to the PC is going to face the exact same issues, and its exactly why they are not confirming cross platform play will ever exist. Its PR to excite people, but the reality is that is nearly been proven to 'break' games.

Hopefully future games can be built from the ground up, balanced for cross platform play but I just do not see it really working or coming to fruition by this console generations end. I would suspect that cross platform play could be a bullet point on the next gen of consoles, but again ... built into new games, gimping play to balance itself.

Cross platform needs to be a standard not a feature of some games. Until that day, it'll be bug ridden and riddle with balancing issues. If one of the big 3 can iron it out and make a subset of rules and standardize it ... it could work.

PC vs Console crossplatform play is perfectly feasible with racing, sports and fighting games. The serious players use the same type of controller (wheels for racers, fight sticks for fighters, etc) regardless of what platform they're on anyway.

Having said that, I can't see any reason why PC-PS3 co-op couldn't happen for Portal 2.

Did PS3 players ever get to play against PC players on UT3? Can't remember....I do remember them saying it was gonna be possible.

Oh well, I should have known what I was getting into when I got the PS3 (this summer, lol).
Like with me thinking that PS3/360 had HD games. I even have 1080p screens from MGS4 that one site posted. Imagine the disappointment when I actually got the game.
I got Army of two just for some local multiplayer, but with 720p it was just a mush of pixels.
I guess I should give up on consoles and stick to PCs.

If you really want to play all your games at 1920x1080 that's your only option. Consoles are a few generations behind on graphics, but that's the price you pay for the convenience of never tweaking settings and everyone having the exact same hardware.

Last I remember, they gave up on that stating that it was no longer possible. A shame too since that game supported keyboard and mouse on the PS3.

Having worked and played in "HD" for more than 11 years (1600x1200 around '98-'99) I cannot switch to 1280x720.

My next upgrade will prolly be a 3D monitor or a 2560x1600 one. I need more desk space :D

I got the PS3 for the exclusives (MGS4 FTW!) and GH/RB.

Consoles are fine and server great purpose and outlet for gaming. Matter of fact I would recommend all PC gamers own a console to compliment their PC. Learning to let go a bit about pixel counting will help greatly with enjoying the 'fun' in games.

Play for fun, not for pixels.

Eh, are you blind or something?
What, next you're gonna recommend all people with glasses to take them off, cause it's cool to watch the world blurry, and it's the emotions that count.

You're free to go back to BW telly instead of HDTV and VHS instead of TIVO, or a one button mouse if you so desire, but leave me out of it.

Sure, if I can't get it in higher than 720p, I'll play that, but it's still rubbish and blurry nevertheless.
