Has anybody done it? What form did you use? Did you seek assistance from a law professional?

I am asking because it is all but impossible to find information on the specifics of copyrighting a web site. It won't be a personal web site, but a schools web site if that makes any difference.

Anything you produce is covered by your own copyright. You don't need to do anything to establish that.

It can be important to establish the date of creation, however. http://www.benedict.com/ has some information.

If you're serious about getting protection, then it's best to get an IP lawyer involved to make sure you haven't made mistakes. Otherwise, you start filling out the forms yourself and filing them. For the text of your site, use TX. For the graphics and artwork, use Form VA.
