the way i look at it.. this case has one of the best cooling solutions over all the other SFF style cases... i was originally planning on getting a SS SG01 but i kept hearing about the cooling issues.. with this case getting idle temps in the high 20's to low 30's thats reason enough for me to pick this over the SG01.. the qpacks arent to bad but not my kinda style for them.. with the qmicra it has a good amount of room inside for further upgrades down the road.. i also think its crazy that the zalman 9500 can fit in this little beast... like they say on their site.. none of their competitors can say their cases can do that..
besides all that.. who cares if people think its crazy that someone else is spending their had earned money on something that they want.. you pay for what you get

The Qmicra is the easiest most well thought case I have ever wroked with. I didn't get any scrapes on my hand the numerous times I have built/taken apart mine. I agree that it is too expensive, but hopefully it will catch on and they will get cheaper.

Agreed. Me and mattro were one of the first ones to jump on this case and have never looked back. the owner originally suggested the use of the silverstone nt01, but when it blocked off one of my pci-e slot, he said he'll buy it from me, who does that! any questions or issues that I have had, he answers them faster than anyone else, and he'll keep at it until your issue is resolved because you're not talking about some high level exce who's only looking at the bottom line. he's a modder himself so he knows where everyone is coming from. Granted the case itself is steep, but you DO get what you pay for including intangibles like support which is often overlooked until you have a problem. So far no one that bought the case has anything bad to say about it and that says something! I mean there is no such thing as a perfect case that'll suit everybody. dont forget when the shuttle sn26 came out, it was close to 600 and it only came with a proprietary mobo and a psu, but no upgrades down the line.

At that price though, you could have a Lian Li V300 ,a very good power supply that you choose and a good motherboard. The V300 can be mod to lower the temp even more (i.e..put a fan behind the hard disks and put a blow hole for the VGA. The V300 looks better style wise compare to the Qmicra (designed in the garage) and its almost as big if you want a big SFF case IMO. I know Steeve would disagree with what I've said because I don't like his beloved case, but hey, everyones got their own preference.

Keep in mind that you are dealing with a very small business so support an warranty are a crapshoot at best down the road.
Also, the owner of QMicra is telling lies to businesses about his experiences in your own HardForums. He states he contacted me to let me know what his company was doing in our forums. This is a lie. He never contacted me and simply used our forums for his own gain then promoted the fact that HardOCP was going to do the first QMicra review and this had been worked out. Again, he falsely represented himself to you guys. He NEVER spoke with us about anything till I contacted him personally.
So you have a one-man company now that at the least lies by omission to begin with and now is lying directly. Also, I have made it my business to steer clear of QMicra threads here in our forums for months now. Still Dave is telling people that we practically accuse him of working for "Al-Qaida," but he still targets our forum members to evangelize his single product.
This man is going around slandering your forums and subsequently the members. You might ask yourself if this is the company you want to do business with.

Is the Qmicra a vaporware? Just finished reading posts after posts and browsing/reading sites after sites about this case. It seems like the company is having difficulties promoting this product. I read that the company would not let the reviewers review the case without walking the reviewer through their product and has too many conditions. Seems like too many lies going around about the case's temp/noise review and the product itself. The only excellent review so far that i've read was from a fan boy/employee. So do you guys think this case (with a potential to be a good one) would be a vaporware soon?

The case is available retail at frozencpu.com for $379.99 which is steep, but then again so is the Falcon NW Fragbox DIY at $299 plus about $50 shipping.....
I own all of the mATX cube cases and the cooling in the QMICRA is far superior, not to mention the fact that I can use a Zalman CNPS9500 CPU cooler!
Because the cooling is so effective in the QMICRA I was able to use 4 Nexus 80mm 17db silent fans. With the Silverstone NT06 CPU cooler test I also stuck a Nexus 120mm silent fan on it. The system runs practically silent at full load testing with this setup. (2 instances of Prime95 and ATI tool artifact scanner for 20 minutes) I also played BF2 for a couple of hours with all the fans running silent!

I don't think silverstone and lian-li got to where they are in one week, there's always a starting point, and its always positive to have innovative products that actually take the end users opinions into consideration.

It would be great if the qmicra was cheaper, but due to it being made in the US, low production numbers, quality thick aluminum, and anodizing, it costs more to make. If there sales take off, the cost will come down.
This is supposed to be a discussion about the qmicra, not bash the qmicra thread.
The reason PC Design Lab is trying to get affiliates to resell Qmicra is to bring the costs of it down. The more cases that can be sold means the price will continually drop. Working with affiliate resellers will increase the speed of the price drop.
I understand, but think about how much money they are making that they can give $75 just for a refferal? They wouldnt give $75 if they only made $100 off each case. This means that they are getting atleast $150 or even more from every case.DanMattia said:

In fact, the removable side panels are even thicker than 1/16th inch at .0937th of an inch. You cant say the structure of the case is more complex either. That is simply a JOKE. It costs more because of low volume one man construction and larger profit margins plain and simple. To imply that the engineers at bigger companies like Lian Li would use undersized or inadequate materials while the "engineer" at PC Design Lab is smarter and used the correct sized material is lame at best man.

Almost every AL computer case is brushed. Brushing helps rid the AL of any irregular marks and colorations and gives a much more presentable appearance. They are then anodized to color them if need be. Feel a silver case with the grain of the brush, then feel a colored case, you will feel the texturing that anodizing leaves behind. Some others are also given a coating and or anodized to keep corrosion from being an issue depending on the quality of the AL sheet used.
All in all, what you guys are talking about is not a big influence on price. Any production facility will have the equipmet on hand to anodize if they are building cases. Yes, there is a cost, but it just is not that big of an impact on selling price.
If I am wrong, feel free to correct me. I am sure there a some things I have left out that others might find important.

Here is a review of one of the first AL cases ever to hit the US shores from Lian Li from 6 years ago.And aren't you the authority at a SFF case/system review site? I am unsure why you would not know these things already if you are the person writing reviews about them.
Kyle is correct in the intent of his post. Cases are not built then anodized. The main material used in cases is sheet. Mostly steel or aluminum. To build an aluminum case, the sheet goods used for the exterior are fabricated from sheets that have already been anodized. These sheets are then fabricated on Punches (machines that cut overall shapes in volume) breaks (machines that bend) and presses (machines that form, and also add the clinch fasteners (the steel backers screws fasten into, or steel studs etc) then they are ready for assembly lines. During the manufacturing process, the sheets are most often still covered with a thin plastic film that is on the sheet when it arrives from the factory as a raw material. I have looked online and easily found brushed clear anodized sheet goods for sale that prove a simple point. If you assumed the entire Qmicra weight of about 5.5 pounds was all aluminum (and it isn't, but lets give them the benefit of the doubt here) and further assume their buying power was limited to just ten 4' x 8' sheets the cost per pound of the Qmicra is about $3.30 in raw materials. 5.5 lbs x $3.30 = $18.15 USD. Materials cost is the smallest portion by far of the total cost of a case. Even a basic job shop to cut the parts for 10 cases with a laser, and bend them on a CAD?CAM three axis bender (this is all the materials, bends, clench fasteners etc--ready for assembly) is about $125 to $150 for 10 cases ready for assembly. Add in some foam and a decent box at about $5 - $7 (it is a tiny ass case after all) and your left with a VERY large dollar amount left over for margin. Cost of a web site, and other administrative for a company with one employee (under 5 anyway) and you get the idea that all this at least looks like its either way over priced, or that Dave needs to spend more time sourcing materials and manufacturing and less time holding Steeeves hand (and assuming we are all too stupid to notice.) Kyle noticed everything I just mentioned in about 13 seconds and had the balls to think for himself and go "Bullshit". When a 'reviewer" spends more time in the forums of the product manufacturer than he does in his own, even going so far as to use the term "WE" in his posts there rather than "I" and something is wrong. You are pitching Qmicra and PC Design Lab's so hard in so many places that I would not be surprised at all to see you at the airport handing out flowers to strangers then asking if you could "show me your case. Or on Oprah jumping up and down on her couch shouting I just LOVE this case"
