Today I swapped out my DS3L for a Neo2 FR and replaced the stock Xigmatek push pins for the Thermalright 775 back brace. The first time I used the push pins on my Q6600 I had to a 10 degree difference in core temps, then I remounted with the push pins again (some I had to take the motherboard out for anyway) it and got the temps better however it still did not feel very solid. I gotta say using the brace and spring screws just highlights what complete crap push pins are for a mounting system. Most importantly I have some confidence now that the cooler is actually mounted properly and going to stay that way. For anyone considering paying the extra $5 for a brace, I highly recommend it.

I've had no issues with push-pins on the stock Intel HSF's.
It's actually easier to get a cleaner mount that way. The heatsink isn't sliding and turning all over the place while you attempt to get the screws into the holes and tighten them. I've remounted my TRUE at least four times over the past months, and I have yet to do it totally successfully (without the heatsink moving and/or turning slightly).

I suppose the screws would push harder (more contact) onto the CPU then the push-pins, but I don't know if that's true. If push-pins are capable of the same amount of force as the screw mounts, then fuck it, I'll take the push-pin.

Hey this is a hate club, take your push pin loving elsewhere!
