Official Catalyst 5.11 WHQL Released

Like to add that the massive feature that is aAA is now there (although greyed out if your card isn't a X1x00 series card), if you want to run it with X800 etc. registry tweaks still need to be done. Also aAA still doesn't work in OGL games yet...Just a heads up
 
ARGH MATEY!! I was really hoping for AAA to be available without tweaks for my card. And no OpenGL AAA yet?!? ARGH!! I still play a couple older games like Solider of Fortune 2 online that could use the image quality of AAA. Crap. O well hopefully they are better than the 5.10's. I'll see after work I guess.
 
Performance is sometimes fatser with 5.10's sometimes 5.11's depending on the game with the exception of the X1800's that just seem to massively improve upon the beta stuff they came with
 
is it possible for someone with X1800xl/xt to run some benches VS beta that the cards shipped with?

I'll be rebuilding my comp this evening to give my RDX board a shot one final time before it goes back to dfi. If it works n'stufff I'll try and crunch a few.

ok, I'm brand new to ati and have an asus x800xl on the way. Can you elders of ati please answer a couple questions please? I only play BF2 and FEAR at the moment.

1.) What is CCC and AAA ?
2.) Will driver cleaner work to remove my nvidia drivers? (going from a 6600 to x800xl)
3.) What is the deal with having to rename the FEAR exe file to work with ati drivers?
4.) Where can I find the tweaks for question #1 ?
5.) What program do I need to oc this card?
6.) I installed coolbits for my 6600, do I need to remove it from my system, if so how?

Thanks guys, I've been out of the game for a couple years and am trying to get caught up. :)
 
ALL I know is this driver has really hurt my 9800, I went back and unistalled it.

I can't answer all of your questions, but I will do what I can.

1. CCC is the Catalyst Control Center. It is a type Control Panel for the ATi drivers. You can get the drivers with the CCC or standard control panel. The AAA would the new Anti-Aliasing function supported by the new X1xxx cards.

2. Yes, driver cleaner will remove your old NV drivers. Just be careful not to remove your mobo drivers if you have an NV based motherboard.

3. Renaming the FEAR executable seems to have created a situation where the game runs better. I'm not sure if this was something done intentionally to make ATi run slower for FEAR or whether it is something in the ATi drivers, like the Catalyst AI functions, that don't run when the executable is renamed.

4. If you mean the tweaks for AAA, that is something some else will need to answer because I just flat out don't know.

5. The CCC comes with the overdrive utility, but I would just recommend that you use a utility like ATi Tray Tools. The OC utility there allows you to build OC profiles for each game, so you can optimize performance for each application. It also has an option that allows tripple buffering to be enabled in D3D games, where I don't believe that is an option with the standard CCC or control panel utility.

6. I would think that coolbits will be removed by driver cleaner.
