There, now it goes to the main driver page. Apparently with ATI's new driver pages you can't link directly to the specific driver page, ugh.

P4 630 (3ghz)
stock x800xl speeds

3dmark05 went up to 4818 from 4723(cat 5.4)

Nice improvement :D

On the other hand, my 3dmark03 stayed about the same...

I'm very happy with the KOTOR fixes. That lag on Datooine was VERY annoying. My framerates and benchmark scores also went up. Nice Job ATI.

it looks liek new drivers give a nice boost in 3dmark. gonna have free time tomorow and check it out

With my 9800 Pro, very little change from the 5.4's:

2443 with the 5.5's
2439 with the 5.4's

I just installed. I'll try out games later (sorry dont do 3Dmarks). I just know the 5.4s hurt my CS:S FPS kinda bad. I got like a 10FPS drop for some weird reason so I went back to the 5.3s.

Same, I reverted back to the 5.3's due to the FPS drop in CS:S

Better than the 5.4s for sure, but not as good as the 5.3s IMO. I'm going back once again.

Got em installed but not yet tested.
All I know is that before the 5.2s my Catalyst Control Center always crashed my comp but with each new realease it gets more stable.

Having issues with Call of Duty with the 5.5's (can't load up OpenGL). However resolved HL2 and CS:S problems so I'll keep them for now

I'm not having those issues. You should remove them and use the driver cleaner and try installing again.

Really? Lucky you.... my 1600x1200 is STILL screwed , i dont wanna freaking use 4.12s for decent performence :\

Any ideas on some settings i could change? My desktops running at 1600x1200 also , even tho in the driver report it says the problem occurs wioth 1024x768

Ditto here too, I tried these new 5.5 cats on my new X850XT and it was much moe sluggish than 5.3 or 5.4 playing Half Life 2. I just went back to 5.3 and Half Life 2 is running at full speed again with no slow downs at all. I am sticking with 5.3 for the time being.

:( :D :p

Anyone having PunkBuster problems with CoD with the 5.5s and the latest CoD patch (1.5)?
I keep getting kicked for a multitude of reasons. There is no pb folder in my CoD directory either, so PBWEB doesnt help me. Anyone have some advice?

i tried installing the 5.5's and had major install issues, so bad that after an hour (and trying to go back to 5.4 and still having same problem) did a system restore back a day and problems went away.

my desktop res is 1280x1024 and i had to scroll around the screen to see everything, and then when trying to see my 3D settings in the display panel, under advanced....no ATi software present at all...used driver cleaner in safe mode after uninstalling the drivers, tried just uninstalling and reinstalling after reboot... then once i tried with the 5.5's the 5.4's had the same problem....

again, after the system restore (now back at 5.4) i can at least use my system again.....

any ideas?

Simply make a PB folder and then try using PBWeb.

It needs the orginal PB files to update though, and the only files the PB website offers, arent the ones PBWeb updates, im so SOL.

Maybe try a lower resolution in-game? Has the recent engine update helped your problems? Maybe try lowering the texture or model detail. Sorry I've never experienced that sort of problem (mine was model and texture problems), maybe try the steam forums?

Well I've thought about it, and it can't be a total OGL problem because I use that mode for normal CS. I may try a reinstallation though to see if that helps.

5.5 64bit installed last night, no performance loss or increase noticed. Gaming is limited though :).

Anyone getting yellow and pink in dark corners in HL2??, ie instead of a deepening black into dark corners, I get different shades of yellow and pink??

Is this a Cat 5.5 issue, HL2 issue or Dell 2405 issue??

finally got the drivers installed last night, still didn't solve my knights of the old republic problem in dantooine yet....the last two releases have said it's been fixed but it never has...

i did get it fixed however, by placing an entry into the swkotor.ini file i found on one of the forums on lucasarts website. it's at least a fix for now.

i hear people bash ati's drivers and what not, but this was the first time i've had issues with installing any drivers for my card, and i've had it for over a year and only have done maybe 2 formats since i purchased the card and had no other problems upgrading drivers.

i'm still waiting for a proper fix for that knights of the old republic problem though....maybe someday

Downloaded these and installed the first day they were available. No problems of any kind.

The only games I have played since the new drivers are HL2 and FarCry, both play great with no problems.

Getting some horrible frame rate drop using 16xAF, 8xAF and even 4xAF and 2xAF on CSS. 1280x1024 with 6xAA on an X800 Pro VIVO mod to XT PE. Before I used to run 5.4 with 16xAF and 6xAA no problems. Still not sure if this speed drop is the drivers tho. But I am in the process of finding out.

I'm having the strangest, and evil, problem with these drivers, the x64 version.

I'd previously installed 5.4 on the comp, had some odd issues, formatted the HD, RMA'd a couple parts, anyway, got back in to Windows, saw the 5.5s, DL'd those, and.. two issues. First it says "Failed file copy" I believe, and then continues for a moment, then the comp resets. Boots up to where it'd start to go to the Windows splash screen, but instead just goes black.

I thought, hmm, damn RAM, and reformatted, this time took things more slow (I'd installed the nforce drivers right before the ati ones without rebooting, i doubt i'm the only one that doesn't reboot every two minutes though), and this time installed the ATI drivers first before anything else (after some Prime95 at least; hardware is all fine). Does it again, in exactly the same way, with the same result: black screen on boot.

I didn't pay $100 or whatever for an OS that won't work, so anyone having a similar issue? ideas? linkage to x64 5.4s, if all else fails? ;)

funny how some of you people can get so excited over a new driver release that gives you a 200, 300 or even 400 point increase in synthetic benchmarks but (usually) doesnt do jacksh*t for you in real world gaming...

oh well, who cares if a game doesnt run better with a new driver release just as long as your 3DMarks go up. :p

for those who's benchmark scores are very important, yeah that could be a big deal....

but i just wanted kotor to work properly on dantooine lol

the drivers never fixed the problem, but i have noticed that with these installed things seem to run a little smoother on other games though.
