A Wisconsin State Trooper is suing his department for trying to seize the source code of a program he wrote last year in his spare time. The state contends that the officer wrote it while on duty so they own the source code. Now it is in the hands of a judge.

"Meredith is credited for accomplishing more in one year than software companies have in five years," the State Patrol said in a press release in May 2005, when Meredith received a special honor for his work on the software. Now, he is suing the head of the patrol.

I see cops parked in places around here that are definitely not feasable for speed traps or even stop sign violations. I never thought they would be coding, I have just seen em play solitaire!
