Office/workstation ideas.

I'm planning on having an office/workstation in the near (near as possible) future. I want it to be clean, safe, and functional. Here's some of my plans:
Basic layout-4 computers, details later,
-comp1-gaming/movies/content creation, music, burning, etc.
-comp2-work, office programs
-comp3-internet/file archive
-comp4-testing computer/hardware troubleshooting/part swapping

Computer 1 is the entertainment machine. I don't care how loud it is, it's gonna have tons of big ass case fans, huge cpu cooler, extra coolers everywhere, wherever I can fit fans and coolers, they will be there. Everything is gonna be light up/UV reactive stuff. The case is gonna be clear UV reactive as well. I plan on having the specs as follows:
Windows XP pro
Intel Dual core or Dual CPU (capable mobo, of course-no less than 800mhz FSB)
No less than 2 gigs of RAM
No less than 300gb Hard drive space total
PCI-E high end Nvidia or ATI card (Probably Nvidia)
DVD-+R/RW, CD-+R/RW drive(s)
WIRED Laser mouse (for nice accuracy in games)
Big fat LCD monitor (type unknown)
Fat sound system

Computer 2 will be the work machine. It will house applications for work, college, portfolio stuff, money, slideshows, etc. It's gonna be very quiet and nice for concentration. Specs:
Windows XP 64 bit ed.
AMD 64 bit processor
No less than 512mb RAM
No less than 80gb Hard drive
Some sort of normal PCI graphics card
Floppy drive (never know when ya might need it)
CD Burner
Wireless keyboard/mouse (Preferably logitech) ergonomic design, very comfortable.
Nice, bright, high reslution display for ease on the eyes, easy to work with/stare at for extended periods of time.

Computer 3 is the internet machine (that's right, the only machine with the internet on it-I'm not a big online gamer, only single player really suits me). It will house important and all extract files download, and configuration settings for other computers. Specs:
Intel Pentium 4
No less than 256mb RAM
No less than 200gb Hard drive space
Normal PCI graphics card
A good network adapter
CD burner (for file transfering-this IS the only computer that will be on the internet, and most of the downloaded files will be for other computers)

Computer 4 (final) This will be the test, hardware troubleshooting, part swap and burn in machine. This will be where I test downloads (scan for adware, spyware, viruses, see how they work, especially of they are system configuring/enhancing programs). I will also use it to test and burn in new hardware ( to make sure it isn't defective and can't ruin the system I want to put it in.) This machine will be reformated/restored/wiped constantly. It will have no more than 512 mb RAM in at one time (while in use, of course) and same with the hard drive, on;y no less than 80gb.

Other office/workstation items:
Fridge (filled to the teeth with pepsi and beef jerkey)
Adaquete lighting (One light on each side of the room)
Comfortable chair to sit in (necessity)
Big, fat, plain desk that resembles desks in school computer labs (or whatnot) for lots of room and flexibility.

This all may seem a bit drastic (or it may not) But I want my stuff to be organized, safe, clean, functional, and comfortable, and I want everything to have it's priority. "This computer for that, that computer for this) Each will serve it's specific function(s). Well, give me a little feedback on my workstation idea here, give me some ideas, some advice, or just simply voice your opinion on what I have planned. Thank you.
 
you're aware that it will take a while before games will take advantage of 2 CPUs/ cores..
anyways.. it looks like you have too much money :p
 
System 1: Entertainment Machine.

Why do you have Windows XP Pro on an entertainment machine? (System 1) Dual core/CPU will completely be a waste of money, as will 2 gigs of ram on a machine that you're watching DVDs on.

A $2000 computer that only needs to be as powerful as a laptop.

Your focus should be on a good sound card and excellent speakers, 1 gig of ram and quality monitor. That's an 'entertainment' machine.

System 2: Work Machine.

Win 64 edition. Well, it's not out yet.

Hard drive space and memory. Not enough of either. If you're willing to get a A64 processor for a work machine, may as well take advantage and have the memory and drive space for your applications. Get a gig of ram again. Also, find a sweet deal on a 160+ gig HD. For this machine, and System 1, may as well have flat panel monitors to save on desk space so that you have space for papers and writing area.

System 3: Gaming/Online machine

PCI card? I think you mean an AGP card. PCI video cards are going the way of the DoDo. If you're spending a fortune on those other machines, you can afford an AGP card for this one. Get an Athlon Sempron/mobo combo for under 200 bucks. It'll cost you as much as that P4 you were looking at. Maybe less.

I picked up an Athlon64 3000+Asus mobo for 250 and 1 gig of ram (PC3200) for 150. Just an example of cost.

Oh, get gigabit nics for all of your machines and don't worry about transfering files by CD.

Don't build system 4. If you're not a hardcore gamer, use system 3 as your fun station, don't go crazy with reformatting/reinstalling, because it's not as necessary as people believe. Avoid spyware, virus nonsense, and warez, and you'll have to reinstall maybe once a year or less.

With the money saved from system 4, improve the other 3 or have nice monitors all around.
 
Cool, thanks for the input so far. No, I'm actually a pretty poor dude, I just spend ALL the money I get on stuff I don't need, which is stuff I actually DO need. You know. To survive! Like new computers and stuff! :) Yeah, but Machine number 3 is strictly the internet machine, no gaming, that's why I'm going along the way of a PCI video card. The reason why I'm having Machine number one have 2 gigs of RAM is because of the content creation part. Rendering, Photoshop, music production, all that said, I'll probably need more RAM. Who wouldn't mind more RAM? :) Also it'll have dual processing because of this content creation. I usually don't have enough time to make pictures on Photoshop, then when I'm finished, fondle with the recorded tracks my band makes. So I figure, while tracks are compiling, I can render a scene , and maybe watch a DVD at the same time! That would be completely amazing to me...I can't wait. My pockets already getting a hole in them, even though there's actualy no money in it right now! Thanks a lot guys! Appreciate the feedback so far!

Hmmm...ya know what, I didn't think about that! That's a pretty good idea, actually. You should change your name to "smartguy" or something! LOL :) Thanks. I just don't want it to hammer performance on projects that might use high quality images. But that probably won't be that big of an issue.
