Hey Guys, Ive built a few gaming riggs in my day but never an office PC. The small office I work for needs 3 new computers and I was going to build them if economical. So my first question is can you save money building a ~$500 office PC or should I just wait for a sale at Dell? Thanks for the help!

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Word, Internet, excell, finance trend software etc.

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
~$500 x 3

3) Where do you live?
California

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. Please be very specific.
Everything but Monitors

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
none.

6) Will you be overclocking?
no

7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
21 inch SyncMaster 920bw

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
ASAP

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
Nothin fancy

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?
no

I agree with It_shiro. You could maybe build a slightly more powerful machine for slightly cheaper, but it wouldn't be worth the hassle and you wouldn't get Dell's warranty. Also, if you do decide to DIY, the cost of 3 OS keys will seriously compromise your budget.

Ya, Office PC = dell.

Dell's are that bad and if something breaks you call them they fix it, if you get 3 rig's and say one has a bad mobo, you now have to RMA and wait.. bad stick of ram? bad HD? bad anything, that is one system not being used..

sign up on dell, go under small buisness and contact a sales rep, sometimes they will toss in free upgrades or even lower the price to $500 with ground shipping if your nice and explain you have a set budget and need 3 office computers.

Call a dell rep. They should be able to get you 3x Vostro 220 machines with monitor included for around $450 - $550 each.

Get a Dell, in addition to what others have posted, you could take a look for coupons on the deal forums or check out dell's outlet site .
