Now, do I stand outside BB or Office Depot? Hmmm.........

heh, they do actually have a few enticing items, Might be an alternative for those not wanting to avoid the crowds at Best Buy, i kinda doubt OD will have a mile long line.

- HP notebook: Celeron M, 14" tft, $350
- syntax olevia 27" LCD TV $499
- Optoma DS305 DLP Projector - $499.99 <- svga 800x600, 1800 lumens, normally $650
- APC Back-UPS BE500R Battery Backup - $14.99

The 27" syntax lcd at Officedepot is probably better than the 26" lcd at bestbuy, bestbuy's toshiba projector i'm not sure of yet. Bestbuy's toshiba laptop is definitely better and only $29 more...

anyone have info on this:

Flat Panel 19" LCD Monitor - $199.99

or perhaps an adscan so that i can just find it myself?

actually that keepcash site has some good BF info on all the big stores.

one thing that just caught my eye is the FAR deal on the Nero 7 Ultra at Best Buy. now, someone correct me if I'm wrong but didnt certain BB stores do away with mail-in rebates thus making all the rebates instant? if so, then shouldnt or wouldnt that Nero deal be free out the door from those BB stores that have instant rebates?

could be worth checking out.

i wonder the same

I'll have to take the adscans at face value i guess, just hope there were no misprints or misphrases

Im planning on sitting at my keyboard and ordering from www.officedepot.com. It worked last year for everything I wanted.
Please explain how you did it exactly (?)

Did you return the item's in-store for a price adjustment or were the sales prices reflected online also?

I imagine the online outfit will sell out fast, you might have to monitor their website for updates

TIA

It might be the same monitor Staples was advertising for that price (Samsung).

I looked at one of the Office Depot ad scans and I didn't see any laptop or desktop deals.

Anyone know if the LCD is the HV or the HVX? This looks like the best deal ive seen for a decent size lcd tv.

I'm in need of a really cheap second pc for the little ones in my house to mess around on. Anyone have more info on the HP Pavillion Desktop w/ 17" CRT, Celeron D, 256MB, 40GB, CD-ROM, Printer - $99.99.

I would like to know things like what mobo it has, what speed the proc is at, what video card, the usual stuff. For the most part it doesn't really since it's for my little ones mainly but I'd like to know if I could upgrade it very easily in the future if I feel the need.

It looks like almost ALL of the best deals on there are AR, which all the sudden makes them, not so good deals. The point of standing in line waiting for a store to open is to get a really good deal and save some money, not spend it all anyway and hope and pray for MIR's to arrive sometime before next Xmas.

Next Friday home-slice.... the blackest of all Fridays. The one after Thanksgiving. Apparently the day before Thanksgiving is also considered one of the best nights to party too. I don't quite get that one since I always get stuck traveling to the girlfriends place the night before. Dressing up...Lame

I would count on a no name mobo and a crappy vid card, but hey for $99 its prally worth it.

26" is the better one. It is newer and has much better picture quality.

I looked at the ads for black friday, and that compaq laptop for $349.99 is after rebates. Looks like Im going to Wal-Mart instead since they have a laptop for $398.99. I hate rebates!!

That would be really nice for me if the 26" westinghouse were better, it would narrow my research and keep me from hitting two stores come BF morning. Looking to pick up a couple of laptops and a new television for the bedroom. Did you find out that westinghouse info from AVS or elsewhere?

My list of candidates were

26" westinghouse W2602bk from bestbuy: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...CategoryId=pcmcat31800050025&id=1124432746579
27" Syntax HVX from officedepot http://www.officedepot.com/ddSKU.do?level=SK&id=224872&&An=browse
26" Syntax HVX from circuitcity http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Synt...34568/catOid/-12869/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

It would make my life easier just hitting one store, and it looks like bestbuy might have the better products this year (laptop + TV).

I wish the one at Circuit city had the response time listed. The one at Office Depot says it's a 12ms, but the other two do not say.

Fish

Well I was going to hitup CompUsa for the Syncmaster 730b, but if I can get a 19" for the same price I'm going to.

From reading looks like the westinghouse cant touch the syntax lcds. Looks like the 26" syntax is the best, syntax claims a 800cd brightness, 1600:1 dynamic contrast rating, though i see 1200:1 some places, and a 8ms response time. 27" looks like it would be the next best and syntax claims a 9s response time and a 1000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, though from what i have read they may not be that good and the 27" pannels may be older. The westinghouse seems to be the bottom of the barrel, it doesnt support pip evidently, only 1 s-video input, only 1 composite input, and lower brightness, resolution, and contrast ratio. This is all from brief reasearch so if anyone has seen any of these tvs side by side of has more information that would be great.

I was speaking about the 26" Syntax over the 27" Syntax.

Well, LCD's in standard def do not look good to begin with(very blurry).

The Syntax's have a nice picture when watching high def. Add the oppo upconverting DVD player($200 shipped with DVI cable) and you have a nice little high def movie monitor.

ahh, of course i get it wrong and add to everyone's confusion

Ok so basically in order from best to worst from everywhere that i've gathered.

CC's 26" syntax >> OD's 27" syntax >> BB's 26" westinghouse

That seems to fall in line with other people's opinions. People who either own, or have already compared these three LCD's in three different forums.

The laptop and desktop are custom built and shipped to you.

Both can be upgraded. 9 days to ship.

The $99 desktop has $99 shipping.

These are not limited to quantity on-hand, so realax !

Does anyone know if that $99 pc is after rebates or is it the price it's actually going to be sold at? Just curious.

i'm sure almost every price at OD is AR...

only the big boys are going without rebates this year

From all the scans floating around, it seems Walmart is the place with the least rebates. EVERYONE is using them. Nothing hot about this Black Friday at all really.

There are actually 2 different Olevia 26" LCD monitors and from the outer appearance they look exactly the same. One is the LT26HVE and the other is the LT26HVX. The one whose model number ends in -E appears to be in line with the Olevia 27" specs so im assuming its an older model. The one that ends in -X has much better specs, but of course this is only on paper. Only way you can tell is if you go to the store to find out. Also only way to tell which one it is, is to go to the store and see. Hope this helps.

I didn;t realize the 27" was the LT27HVX. The 'X' adds IDEA tech, which is what made the 26" better than the 27". IDEA helps in making a sharper picture.
