Hello, I know this is HardOCP and that the goal is to get the best possible performance and all, but I also know this community is really knowledgeable as well. I really need that expertise at this point. I'm hoping for some advice and insight on how to build a computer that's good for accounting and office business use. The last pre-made computer I got from HP had its GPU die on me within 2 years... on an office computer dedicated to just business. Ouch...

I'm hoping I can get a build that's durable and has enough oomph to a few years.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc

- Business accounting use

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?

- $650 taxes included, hopefully in the $550 range if possible but don't want to be stubborn about if it's cutting corners I shouldn't be.

3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.

- I live in Canada, Ontario, Toronto.

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.

- I'll need a Motherboard, CPU, Power Supply, Computer Case, RAM, Storage Drive, andWindows 7

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.

- I'll be reusing a DVD Drive, Monitor, Keyboard, and Mouse.

6) Will you be overclocking?

- No.

7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?

- I have a hand me down 20 inch NEC LCD monitor.

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?

- As soon as possible.

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.

A little bit of future proofing. I guess that's really just USB 3.0 in case 5 years down the line USB 3.0 devices has completely replaced USB 2.0 devices and my accountant needs something like that.

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?

- No, I'll have to buy a Windows 7 64 bit OS.

On a side note. NCIX is offering the following for $592 CDN before taxes. Are the components here decent at all? Is it worth just buying as is? Is the power supply in that case decent? Thanks in advance, everyone!

AMD A10-7700K APU Quad Core Socket FM2+ Processor W/RADEON R7

ASUS A88XM-A mATX FM2+ DDR3-2133 1PCIE16 1PCIE1 1PCI 6XSATA USB3.0 HDMI Motherboard

You're crazy building a machine for work, at least when your last one broke you got to blame HP. If you make one, then you'll get the blame.

If you don't like HP then buy a Dell, or whatever.

CPU, $115: http://www.amazon.com/Intel-i3-4130...F8&qid=1400176029&sr=8-2&keywords=core+i3+cpu
Mobo, $40: http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-DDR3-Mot...PDKIKX0DER&s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1400176984&sr=1-2
Ram, $32: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104441
Case/PSU, $60: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119267&ignorebbr=1
HDD, $53: http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digit...2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1400176589&sr=1-2
Windows :$100

=$420 pre shipping and tax.
Case and PSU are kind of crap though.

Add $52 for a better PSU: http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Modul...ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1400176668&sr=1-2
Substitute a better case, $40: http://www.amazon.com/Silverstone-T...DKIKX0DER&s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1400176719&sr=1-15

For $452.

The CPU I chose, an Intel Core i3 4130 is going to be a better bet than the AMD. You're not doing multithreaded media encoding or anything very intensive. The simnilar clockspeed and higher IPC of the intel, and the lower power requirements are going to be a way better idea than the AMD. TBH, everything else just kind of follows from there. The Mobo is a good one, I have it. It has USB 3.0 and every other port you'd need. The case is a silverstone, so should be more than adequate.

If you really want to go crazy, spend another $50 on a silent cpu cooler. Total= $502
Alternatively, add an SSD OS drive for $105, total to $567.
That would SMOKE the AMD build.
