Useful I hope for the x1950 Pro guys out there.

Junk, don't auto install.

I think I've got them installed (or the betas I don't know...), now have no CCC.

I hate this driver bullshit.

Thanks, for trying them out first...guess I'll stick with 6.5 driver only and atitool/systool for the settings/monitoring

I've got an open ticket with ATI on this, blow holes:

Any one else see the problem....

Code:
This is an automated message intended to notify you about an important driver and software release.

AMD released CATALYST 6.10 including new display drivers and WDM capture drivers on October 31, 2006. This release applies to RADEON 9500 series and higher cards running in Windows XP, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 and Windows XP 64bit Edition.

Please note that this driver build adds support for the following new products:

Radeon X1950 XTX
Radeon X1650 Pro
Radeon X1650 XT
Radeon X1300 XT

Support for Radeon X1950 Pro series is not included in this build.

We ask that you try this new release in the hope that it will correct the issue that you are currently experiencing. To obtain this update, please visit [url]http://support.ati.com[/url] and choose Drivers and Software. Please ensure that you read the release notes for driver information and supported graphics cards before downloading.

For information on known and resolved issues in this driver release, please refer to the driver’s release notes, which are available with the download.

For instructions on how to uninstall the old AMD software from your system and update with the latest versions, please visit [url]http://www.ati.com/install[/url].

Should your issue persist with the latest CATALYST 6.10 package installed or if this update is not applicable to your question, please respond to this ticket and attach an AMD Problem Report. Steps for doing this appear below.

How to create a problem report in Windows

A problem report provides AMD with a snapshot of your system configuration which assists in troubleshooting any technical issues that you may be experiencing. To download the utility from this ticket, you will need to check your ticket from our website.

To create a problem report:

· Download and install the ATI Adapter Utilities. You will find installation instructions on this page.

· Once the utilities are installed, browse to this default install directory C:\ATI\SUPPORT\ATI_UTILITIES and run the program listed as “atiiprxx.exe”. Follow the prompts on the screen until finished at which time the problem report will be saved in a text file.

Once complete, please attach the text file to this ticket.

If you cannot find the ATI Adapter Utilities please try searching for it by KB article. You will be able to find it by searching for the KB article. If your first search does not work, try searching when logged out of you’re My AMD Account, it should work this way.

To find the KB articles;

1. Click on the "Customer Care" bar (third link from the left across the top of the AMD website).

2. In the upper left hand corner, click on the "Advanced Search" link.

3. Under "Search Type:" select "by ID: 737"

4. Type in the number 1696 and press the "Enter" button on your keyboard

Just go back to where you were, it was working......

like they say, if it ain't broke don't fix it :)

Sweet, nice drop in 3dMark 06! 6.10b=4576 6.10o=4515

Thank you for the feedback.

There are no drivers for the X1950 Pro series card at this time from AMD, there are also no beta drivers available.

You may wish to return the card for one that does have drivers available at this time, or wait until the next driver release when the card will be supported.

I can't believe that the graphic card companies release new graphics cards and don't have official drivers to support them immediately. That just doesn't fold right with me.

seriously....how they hell can they sell a card with no drivers? COME ONE COME ALL and get a brand new Ferrari....but with no engine

the 6.9 drivers which come on CD with product do auto install, I assume they hacked up the INF file. I don't think these (6.9) really support the R570 chip.

Need either 6.5 or 6.10 for FAH which does not auto install (see the card as supported).

So I'm gonna be out on the East coast first of Dec. who votes I slash zim's tires?

Because the GPU client is somewhat dependent on good drivers, I recommend waiting for Stanford to bless the drivers before jumping in to ankle deep water, head first. ;)

A-whaaa? Another Retriever? Wanna meet for lunch sometime? Oh, and congrats on hypothetically graduating!

So where do you keep all your machines? I seem to recall you've got a few... I can only fit four in my dorm room due to power constraints, and my roommate doesn't like how loud one of them is, so it stays off :( Are you living on-campus or off?

I've just been in school for an extremely long time, so I live off campus, but some of my buddies live in Mt. Ridge down the street, they're all IS majors while I'm a HAPP major.

My borgs are at work and my house, I couldn't imagine what would happen if I tried to cram them all in a single dorm room.

It took me a while to figure out "Health And Public Policy" - my first guess was "HAPPiness" :p

I can imagine what it's like - there's a reason my window is open. The AC just doesn't cut it...

Another thread derailment brought to you by unhappy_mage! Today's just my day for off-topic, I guess  Time to cool it on the sugar, I guess...

Back on topic....

Cool frame times almost exactly the same as mine, on a different CPU (P4 3.0 vs. 1.8 AMD)

Guess that's a strong case that CPU don't make much differerance. However, then why does running a client on the CPU dedicated for GPU slow things down....
