This is not quite PC Audio but its damn close.

I recently got some Logitech z5500's for the super cheap but I already own Klipsch 5.1 Ultras for my pc...so I decided to use the Loggies for my living room..For all intent they work when plugged into my DVD but I want to tied them all in with the TV and a possible console video game to add in the future. Somebody suggested that I get a reciever but to be careful not to get one that would melt them as they are made for PC and not for the living room...

Any suggeestion on a receiver? I know absolutely jack about hometheater but i have to use these speakers for something :confused: Any help is greatly appreciated.

They aren't going to melt from attatching them to any receiver. The only hurdle you'll have is connectivity. I'm not familiar with logitechs line (TBH), if those particular speakers have an optical connection or a coaxial connection it should be very easy to attach them to a receiver and then use them for all your TV watching duties.

That said, I like Denon receivers. Of course which one depends on price range and options that are desired.
 
Perhaps the person who said the receiver might "melt" the speakers thought that you connect the speakers to the receiver by speaker wire.

The speakers already have their own power source (you plug them in), so all that is needed is a cable to connect to the speakers. Right off hand I don't know what inputs are on the speaker, but that will determin how you go about it.

for about 230$-280$ you can get a nice receiver from denon.

Basically, the "receiver" is an intergrated amplifier with a FM/AM tuner. When I say intergrated amplifier, I mean a "preamp" and a "amp" all in the same unit. You can plug many things into the receiver, both audio and video, and then you can send them to something like speakers and a TV. The receiver lets you choose between what you have conencted to it.

Although, to be honest with you, all you would really need is a preamp..... but the receiver is ceaper and offers more features incase you decide to get other things, like un powered speakers.
