i was wondering what the difference was between an oem and a retail sapphire 9800 pro as far as warranty goes? I always believed that oem carries a shorter warranty from the manufacturer.

If it's only a few bucks then get the Retail so you get all the extra's like the svideo cable, but anything more then that (say 20$) go for the OEM.

bump can anyone tell me the difference between warranties between the oem and retail version? Length difference, or supplier difference?

OEM warranty is usually supplied by the retailer. So check when the place that your buying from.
Retail is fixed so I would check with sapphire's website.

I would spend the extra $8 (newegg's price difference ) and get the retail. I did, and I like having the manual, software, cables etc.

They give you an S video cable, DVI to VGA converter, and a couple other things that are well worth the extra few bucks.

Actually, OEM hardware is aimed at the large systems integrtors (HP, Dell) -- those are the companies that warrantee OEM product, not the store.

hmm now im getting mixed signals..so oem is supplied by the retailer and retail is supplied by the company? like sapphire and ati?

sapphires oem cards come with a 1 year warrenty.

The sapphire oem cards come with all the cables and driver cd as well as power dvd in some cases (like mine).
