hey im building a new computer from scratch and its my first one. I want to buy as much stuff OEM as possible but was afraid if I got it all OEM I wouldnt get all the necessary materials. Is this true? Are there certain things that can and cant be bought OEM?

Well, it depends... An OEM CPU will not include heatsink/fan (not to mention it will only have a 30day warranty most likely), so you'll have to make up for those. And you'll have to check what the motherboard includes in the bundle in case you need more cables (for IDE devices). But that's about it. The case will bring plenty of screws for the drives, although you'll have to check how many fans it has, if any, and buy them separately if you need them.

What exactly are your concerns? Any specific item you think might not come included?

On CPUs, if you don't use the STOCK AMD cooler, you just void your warranty anyway. So don't bother.

And get the 256-bit version of the 9800; the 128-bit version is just crippled.

I typically prefer retail packages. I work at a OEM reseller and we dont really have any problems to speak of with parts but I just like the packaging.
