I'm trying to decide between getting a gaming lappy and a mild upgrade to my desktop, or going all-out on the desktop. A sure tipping point for me would be if I could pull off this setup:

While the 3x1 super-landscape setups are awesome, I'd love to get a little more vertical FoV too... seems like this would be a nice compromise without getting into a full 3x2 setup. And this would have the advantage of not putting a bezel right in the middle of the group.

So my question is... is it possible to set this as a group for gaming?

nope and you cant do it with nvidia either.. only choice would be to use softTH..

Wrong, he can do it with Eyefinity. It just won't do what he wants to exactly.

You can do PLP with EyeFinity, it just doesn't have crossfire support, nor will it it increse FOV on your center montoir like you'd like.

You can do the PLP with one big center, and two on it's side. Here this explains it better.

I hope this helps. :)

at this point PLP still isnt officially supported. he may have gotten it to work but its a workaround and requires additions to files before it will work.

uhm, even if you use windowed mode to hack LPL as per the current PLP workaround, the middle monitor will just have a window at the same 1080 vertical lines of resolution as the portrait monitors. The window will just cut right across the middle of it. Since the middle monitor is rotated Portrait it's basically a 1440x2560 monitor which the window will only occupy 1440x1080 of.

It *may* be possible to set the windowed resolution way up to 5280x2560 and have the excess window size just hanging off into nowhere which would get you the effect you want, if you can get Windows to not move that shit around like it always tries to.

Otherwise I haven't seen anyone actually try this specific type of setup using the PLP windowed mode work around yet.

damn this is gonna make me put my westy back in the bedroom and just buy a bigger tv for the living room :p. i was going to do it eventually but this makes me want to do it alot sooner :)
