Just recently did a few upgrades (motherboard, power supply, video card) and I'm having a persistent issue with my USB keyboard. Basically anytime I restart the computer my keyboard is not detected once XP loads. I can enter the BIOS fine but past that, the only way to get the keyboard to work is to wait for Windows to load and then move it to a different USB port. The little plug-n-play message pops up saying my new device is ready to use.

It's not the USB ports 'cause I've just been swapping it back and forth between the same two ports when I restart. It's not a serious issue but it's a pain and makes me wonder if there might be a more serious underlying issue.

My MX518 loads just fine after a restart, I haven't had to swap ports to get it to work...just my keyboard.

Has anyone else encountered this?

well winxp reinitalize usb ports when it boots up, but still your keyboard should work, try updating your mobo drivers, and check your keyboard´s manufacturer website for the FAQ, and new drvz.
