So, setup.

http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/DG965WH/index.htm

Intel DG965WH board that came in last year's Retail Edge package. Latest drivers/etc.

The sound is output via optical into my Yamaha Reciever which is hooked up to a 5.1 Klipsch Quintet system. Sounds great.

But, if I'm looking at a clip online like on youtube(example, others have the same experience) I get nothing. BUT if I plug in the set of headphones I have into the front jacks on the case, the sound's fine. . .

Everything else works fine. Games/SageTV/etc have no issues. But online video clips don't work.

Any suggestions to figure it out. It's not a big thing but it's getting more and more annoying as time goes on and I'm outta ideas.

I had this issue on my mac. I ended up resolving it by using a program called detour that forces all audio from specific applications through selected outputs. I'm sorry that's not much help, though.

Running XP Pro. I'm going to upgrade to Vista Ultimate as soon as I can get the money for 2 more gigs of ram(2 isn't enough in Vista with how much I multitask)

Ok, between that, and me re-reading your post, what I thought might be the problem isn't. In Vista you can mute the sound coming from individual programs, and it only shows in the mixer, it doesn't put the little symbol over the speaker in the task bar. However, that's clearly not the issue!

Sorry I can't be of more help :(
