I have a client with a Windows XP Pro computer that was supposed to have a raid mirror setup on it by dell ages ago.

Turns out they did not set it for raid and they also made the main drive dynamic instead of basic but they did set the motherboard sata controller for raid just nothing set.

Now with this weird setup is it possible to build a raid mirror and "ghost" over the hdd so it works without having to re-install windows?

Can you do it, yes. Would I do it, no. If dell sold you an XP machine with mirrored drives, they would have done it through the BIOS of the machine (most likely an Intel ICH7R if it is that old. You should enable the mirror in the bios and then reinstall XP on the machine instead of screwing around with it in Windows.
