odd results in C2D OC...?

This is my first OC in quite some time, (since the days of the slot A Athlon chips.)

I’m currently burning in my e6600 at 3014MHz, (I’ve run it in increments of roughly 40 MHz per increase,) I then run Orthos and Prime together for about 20 min to get the base results before deciding to clock it up again.

Here is what I’m seeing currently at 3GHz an instance of Prime on each core and an instance of Orthos blend on both cores. Currently been running for 1 hr no problems.

Temps: 44c, 43c respectively per CoreTemp, (confirmed with NvMonitor)
Vcore: 1.2375 per Coretemp, 1.192 per CPU-Z, 1.2625 per NvMonitor

Not that I’m arguing but I was expecting the temps to be higher… does anyone see anything off with the numbers, (beyond no program can agree what the VCore is…)

Full sys specs in the sig, cooled on air using ACFreezer pro 7.

Thanks for the input; (and yes I'm going to keep pushing it to see how far she goes).

**Edit: Ambient Room temp 75F

No, everything looks normal, the Core 2 Duo chips are very cool, you are seeing normal results. You have a long way to go though, as the chip has a lot of headroom still.

anything over 80, time to worry.

under 80, maybe a little hot, but just fine.

I'd say MOST sensitive electronics exposed to 170-180 fahrenheit for extended periods of time would be in serious trouble. White papers or not.

I have to state it's from the white papers or no one pays any damn attention. People always come back saying, "but so and so here or on the XS forums has been running 80C+ all the time doing benchmarks for months now and he doesn't have any problems" or some similar drivel. As with so many other things YMMV and I'm only trying to save them the headache. It is ridiculous so many can't seem to grasp this, though.

Oh, I did not mean to dog you in any way. I was just emphasizing that people should utilize common sense with temperature and electronics.

Kinda like the lady that sued McDonald's for spilling hot coffee on her fun box. I was like, WTF to that too. She didn't know that scolding hot coffee would burn a vagina? hehe, common sense. :D

Things are looking good thus far, been running Orthos and Prime for the past 3 hrs and all is well, (had to do a slight volt bump,) but nothing major.

Current stats on e6600 rev B2:
Temp: 50c/50c
Vcore: 1.3
FSB: 1520
Clock: 3420MHz

So far I'm happy with this critter, a 1k overclock and stable/clean run without breaking over 50c....

Any thoughts where I might expect to top out, (from the looks of things I'm more likely to hit the temp threshold before I hit the chip threshold.... humm... if I weren't so lazy, (and no desire to spend the extra green,) I'd consider the Thermalright cooler... but I am lazy ;)

Probably somewhere around 3.6 is going to be tops on that cooling. Maybe a little higher, maybe lower. Voltage scales up as you get higher and things heat up faster. I wouldn't recommend setting higher than around 1.45-1.5 vcore for every-day use.

Thats around what I was thinking based on how its currently scaling... I'm mostly running this as an experiment to see where the CPU clock increase will help me vs where I start to see diminishing returns.

Thanks for the advice(s).
