Someone in my household uninstalled my printer, I think they deleted the printer from printer/fax menu.

So I go to hp and download the drivers for a Photosmart p1000 Printer and try to install them several times unsuccessfully. So I reboot once more and reconnect the printer, at which time my computer shuts off and reboots. so It gets stuck in a boot cycle, everytime it gets to windows, it turns off and begins to reboot. Once I unplug the printer it is fine. but if I plug the printer in it immediately restarts.

Anyone experience a similiar problem? or know how to fix this, any advice would be welcome.

I would unplug the printer and boot into Windows. Once booted, what I would probably do is instead of reloading the same driver over and over again, I would uninstall the driver completely. Then plug in the printer so the new hardware wizard pops up. From there just follow the instructions for your printer.

You may also want to check HP's site for updated drivers for your printer.

Also, check in your BIOS and change the value for legacy USB support. If enabled, disable it. If disabled, enable it.

EDIT: A few more tips/tricks and more details....
Some Dell PCs have a bug in their bios such that they will attempt to "boot" off of a USB mass storage device attached to them. This can be a particular problem printers with card slots that have a built in Mass Storage interface. The user may have 2 solutions: 1) disconnect their AIO/Photosmart device while booting their Dell PC, or 2) modify their BIOS on the PC to "not" boot off of USB mass storage. The process to alter/adjust the BIOS for each PC is less than obvious so users might just opt to disconnect thier AIO/Photosmart products during boot.

PC could not boot up if the printer is already powered and connected to the PC.
The fix is going to be different from one BIOS to another. Here are some of the BIOS setup changes we have used successfully in the past:

(a) Change “USB Legacy support” from Enabled to Disabled.
(b) “USB Legacy support” is enabled, but change “USB 2.0 Support” from “Full Speed” to “High Speed”
(c) “Integrated USB Interface”->”USB Controller” from “Auto” to “Disable/PnP OS”

Also, PM me with your system specs and details. I will try to help you out as I have experienced this first hand on a few different systems.
