So picked up an LCD on the cheap yesterday after using a CRT for years, and something odd is happening. If the screen has to display really dark colors, or a screen full of black for instance, the LCD makes a wierd high pitched noise...it's not very loud, and you wouldn't hear it if you were playing music or a game, but in a silent room, you notice the pitch change.

Why would this be? Is the display deffective? Or is that somewhat normal?

Oh, it's a Westinghouse LCM-19v7. Not a great display, I am sure...but it's a cheap entry in to the LCD world and it looks good...just that noise worries me a tad.

i believe the sound is coming from the back of the monitor and not the actual screen.... if im not mistaking....

try lowering ur brightness level and see if it is reduced....

i have the same problem with my Samsung 940MW, but with mine its the sound of all the hardware installed into it (HDTV tuner, etc).

i recall my older Nokia 7610 cell phone made a buzzing sound too, as well as my other friends 6670. That is when the brightness was set at HIGH it made the buzzing sound.
