... at least I think it is related to the network card. Anyway here is the scoop;

I have a dedicated server rig I take with me to my local LAN group, and I use it as a leech server and dedicated game server, and during the last LAN it would shut off during several sessions when it was hosting a game server. I have also had problems with it before when copying large amounts of files where it would shut off suddenly. I never have any problem like this at home, only at these LAN's when there is large amounts of network traffic.

Asus a8n32-SLI deluxe onboard gigabit, but I can't recall if it only happens when using the nvidia controlled port or also the marvell port (has two onboard gigabit).

Is there a way to test this by creating artificial traffic?

Try running BitTorrent for a little while, the high number of connections will stress the NIC, also try copying large files backwards and forwards across a LAN to test max speeed.
