I've used an MX500 for probably 2 years now, and I've never really had a complaint with it, but lately I've noticed an oddity that I can only attribute to the drivers.
In most applications, the mouse behaves as expected. I use a rather high sensitivity setting and it really helps getting around the desktop. However, certain applications introduce an anomaly. When the Desktop or any Windows Explorer windows have focus, the mouse acts as if my sensitivity is turned all the way down. As soon as another window is focused, the mouse sensitivity is back to normal.
My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 8200, my desktop is a self-built AMD64 3000+, and my office computer is an IBM something or the other with a 2.8Ghz P4 inside of it. On all three machines I experience similar problems using Logitech Mouseware whether I am using my MX500, a Logitech Trackball, the MS trackball, or an el cheapo MS ball mouse. Using Microsoft's mouse drivers I never experienced this issue, but the MS drivers didn't let me push the MX500's sensitivity high enough for me so I installed the Logitech drivers again. As soon as the Logitech drivers were installed this behavior started.
I originally blamed this on some lingering files that the MS Mouse uninstaller probably left behind, but the AMD box has never had the MS software installed and exhibits the same problem.
Has anyone had a similar experience and found a workaround?
