My sister in-laws computer is acting very odd.
She has windows vista and it started to lock up with a screen of green/white artifacts. I thought mabey a heat problem, cleaned all the dust and added an extra 120mm fan on the side panel blowing fresh air into it, no effect. Also tried wiht the side panel right off, still nothing.
Its an acer computer with an intergrated GPU and AM2 cpu. Stock cooler looks good and dust free. I just ran mem-test, 2 full passes later and not a single error.
I tried re-installing vista and my copy of windows 7, both times I get the lock ups while its expanding files at like 99% or 100%, once I made it to finilizing and it locked up lol.
Is it possible its the hard drive failing? We managed to install windows xp but it still does the lock up at desktop randomly. Can a failing hard drive cause wierd artifacts and such?
