Odd issue with 5870.

So I can't really tell if it's the 9.12 drivers or not (because I had a similar crash before on the 9.11's), but it seems as though the problem is becoming for glorified. The issue is, my games seem to randomly lock up; this causes my whole system to hard lock with looping sound, and a gray screen with black bars. I have reinstalled drivers, and tried turning AI on and off. I hope my new 5870 isn't dying already.

First, if you're overclocked, try turning everything back to stock. If not, then I would try running an older driver. Sometimes, a certain driver will not work right on your particular setup for a multitude of reasons. As it seems to be a bit more prevalent than most bugs, AMD might put out another hotfix. If neither of those options work, then I would start looking into starting a RMA process.

I will try a rollback to the 9.11's. I also just found the hot-fix to the 9.12's. The only other thing is my card if factory OCed from XFX at 875MHz on the core I think "stock" is 850? If that is the case I will be sending the card back to XFX as it should be running at 875 like it was advertised.
